More Questions with Robb

Why is it called a “Drive-through” if you have to stop?

If girls with large breasts work at Hooters, then do girls with one leg work at IHOP?
That is a great question and it would be quite the discrimmination case if they turned the poor gals down... when thinking of Hooters i think of the one that was formerly in Dartmouth, but burned down and never re-opened...i always thought it was a silly location for a Hooters, it should have been downtown Halifax along with a Hard Rock Cafe....then again Halifax cannot seem to get their shit together about a stadium either...

Did you like the lunch you packed today? Well today is Sunday, but i did pack a lunch for work on Thursday and it include those cheese Ritz crackers, a granonla bar, a juice box, yogurt and one of those Chef Boyardee microwavables...i had a teach who was a dead ringer for the Chef once...can remember anything the man specifically taught me, but i remember thinking he needed a chef's hat badly...

What is a man movie? As described by Maxim Magazine, "Guy movies are hard to define, but you know 'em when you see 'em. They're packed with sophomoric humor, cartoon violence, mean-spirited putdowns and gratuitous nudity...and that's just during the opening credits!" Lots of classic man movies include Scarface, Rocky and Enter The Dragon

Old Man Robb's favorite Man Movie? Slap Shot!

Why is Slap Shot my favorite man movie? Well because Paul Newman and the rest of the Charlestown Cheifs live the life every dude dreams about! They drink beer, get laid, play sports, gamble, avoid relationships and put off adulthood. And at the end of the film they win the big game and get a parade thrown in their honor!!! Slap Shot has it all- sports, humor, male bonding, violence, more sports and naked females...what's not to love?!!??!

What is going commando? Not the Arnold flick...but it is the act of not wearing underwear. Going commando" is reputed to have begun with commando and other special forces military units, in which some soldiers stopped wearing underwear to prevent chafing. The term is probably related to the much earlier term "going regimental", which refers to wearing the kilt military style, that is, without underwear."

What is Dr Jack? An alcoholic drink consisting of Jack Daniels Tennessee Whisky and Dr Pepper..I want to make a Captain Jack Morgan which is a drink consisting of a shot of Captain Morgan, a shot of Jack Daniels and some Dr Pepper...would probably get ya plenty drunk....

What does a Chuck Norris shot consist of?
The Chuck Norris is a shot composed of 1 part Bourbon and 1 part 151 with as much tabasco as you can handle. You then place a few more dashes of tabasco on your hand, lick it off and take the shot.  . If you respect Chuck Norris, drink this and teach your local bar how to make a proper Chuck Norris.

Will the original Guns n Roses ever reunite? Never say never...it would take a ton of cash and lots of ego stroking...could you really imagine Axl and Slash on stage? It would be like watching a car wreck, only you can't look away...

Since Americans throw rice at weddings, do Asians throw hamburgers?
Well i have been to both Japan and S Korea and seen some strange sites so nothing and i mean nothing would suprise me whatsoever...i know in S Korea they have a big buffet after the wedding, well at least the one i was taken to.

PS- This burger is the "Step-Ladder Burger" from The Turkey Burger located in Cookesville, Nova Scotia...

When you put a sheet over your head for Halloween, are you a ghost or a mattress?
Makes me think of that Charlie Brown Halloween where the bald bugger had a problem making a ghost costume and cut all those frickin holes in it and everyone gave him a rock for a treat...everyone...besides why is the kid bald anyways?

Writer's Block...

Writer's block is a condition,  in which an author loses the ability to produce new work. The condition varies widely in intensity. It can be trivial, a temporary difficulty in dealing with the task at hand. At the other extreme, some "blocked" writers have been unable to work for years on end, and some have even abandoned their careers. It can manifest as the affected writer viewing their work as inferior or unsuitable, when in fact it could be the opposite.

Writer's block may have many or several causes. Some are essentially creative problems that originate within an author's work itself. A writer may run out of inspiration. The writer may be greatly distracted and feel he or she may have something that needs to be done beforehand. A project may be fundamentally misconceived, or beyond the author's experience or ability.

Other blocks, especially the more serious kind, may be produced by adverse circumstances in a writer's life or career: physical illness, depression, the end of a relationship, financial pressures, a sense of failure. The pressure to produce work may in itself contribute to a writer's block, especially if they are compelled to work in ways that are against their natural inclination, i.e. too fast or in some unsuitable style or genre. In some cases, writer's block may also come from feeling intimidated by a previous big success, the creator putting on themselves a paralyzing pressure to find something to equate that same success again.

A usually temporary psychological inability to begin or continue work on a piece of writing.

Clearly some inspiration is all that is needed....

Maybe more inspiration is needed...

The Charles Bronson/ Death Wish Drinking Game...

If you have seen any of the Death Wish movies (there are five of them) with Charles Bronson than you already know that they are the most violent movies with corny acting. Well we turned it into a drinking game. Basically if you have a Death Wish the you must play the Death Wish Challenge.

The Rules:
1. One Drink every time Charles Bronson Kills someone.
2. Two Drinks when anyone else kills someone
3. Three drinks every time a rape occurs (it would be 4 drinks if they get raped then killed)
4. If Charles Bronson sleeps with someone then they get killed its four drinks (Don't add 1 because someone other than Charles Bronson killed her its only 4)
5. Five drinks anytime the person killed is clearly a manakin
6. Finish your drink anytime Charles Bronson blows someone up
7. If the killing is done by a machine gun or any automatic weapon its a waterfall (drink til the killing stops)

Special Rules if you really want to get wasted (add one drink when these happen):
1. Double kills add one drink
2. When Charles Bronson says a cheezy line (viewers discretion)
3. Whenever Charles Bronson eats ice cream
4. Whenever Charles Bronson shoots an unarmed person that is begging for mercy or looking right at him. Basically when its execution style.
5. Whenever someone falls from a building
6. When you see an actor you recognize from a different movie ex: Bill from Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure, Lawrence Fishburne or Jeff Goldblum
7. Whenever a theft occurs

PS. some of the movies start out very slow don't get discouraged the killing will be rampant at least at the end. The first two are also the most panzy the third and following movies are the hardcore ones.

***ADDED BONUS!!!***

Charles Bronson Drink Recipe

Combine all whiskeys together in a 24 oz. mug glass with about 4-5 ice cubes. Fill the glass with any brand of birch beer, and serve.

What's New? Yes Robb Hawley That Means You....

Hello folks! Its been a long time eh? Well what in the world has old man Robert Reid Hawley the first been up to? Well hopefully this new collage that i made with Picasa will shed some light on the situation...

So what have i been up to? Well i went with old friends for a night on the town in WolfVegas, me and Barry went to Retro night at the Valley Drive-In located in Coldbrook which featured Smokey and the Bandit and Jaws, went with my Momma to Mahone Bay and found a Pirate Store, went to Haliburton House in Windsor and they finally had the new hockey hall of fame wing ready for public display, went to the Fireman's Museum in Yarmouth where they also still have a KFC/Taco Bell, went to Risser's Beach with Barry and Michelle, saw the new display at the Greenwood Museum Air Park, took a random drive to the Passage, saw the Dropkick Murphys at the Multi-Purpose Center at the Halifax Forum and met and had my picture taken with Ken Casey the co-lead singer of the Dropkick Murphys, went with Barry and Michelle to Crystal Falls which i had not visited since the summer of 1991 and polished off the week with a trip to the vintage car show at the North Hills Museum and also visited the Old St Edwards Church Museum which was founded by Loyalists in 1797, went to the Tupperville School Museum but it was closed...whew...

Oh yes there is something i must babble on about before i go...

Ernie and Bert...

OMG...

Ernie and Bert are gay? As a kid i always thought they were brothers....Just because they live together and never have chicks over someone (probably gay) grabbed hold of the idea to justify their own lifestyle. They are just puppets to teach children...nothing more..nothing less...Bert and Ernie are Muppets, not people. If they were meant to be humans, they wouldn’t have been made orange and yellow with heads the shapes of an American football and a traffic cone....

Escape From The Bronx

Another classic from the Old Man Robb archives...Escape From the Bronx...i remember renting this 80s  classic from the Dairy Bar in the Passage next to Lloyd's store...i hear recently that Lloyd's is going to be torn down and made into a parking lot..nostalgia does not last forever does it folks? I guess one cannot stop progress...or regress in some cases..had to take a spontanious road trip to the Passage Saturday night with a good friend and we took the following pic...

Oh ya..what was i babbling on and on aboot? Oh yeah..Escape From the Bronx...the sequel to 1990: The Bronx Warriors...

This slice of Italian cheese has the returning Mark Gregory and the bad dude from Buck Rogers...ummmm..ya Henry Silva....i remember when babbling on and on about Warriors of the Wasteland w/ the great Fred Williamson how the only flick the Italians saw for aboot five years in the 80s was The Warriors, Mad Max, The Road Warrior and Escape From New York...i swear i swear...

Oh ya and here are the official stats from IMDB..

The full death toll in the uncut version is 174. There are 110 killed in shootings, 40 in explosions, 9 by flamethrowers, 1 by stabbing, 1 off-screen kill, 4 unknowns, 6 electrocutions, 2 bashed in the face with a helmet and 1 face turned to red mush after being hit with a shotgun butt.

Yeah this flick is like the A-Team...on steroids...whatta flick!!! Gots to love the 80s...
