March Already?

Well folks how do i say it? One picture is worth 1000 words....

and yes i had to work that day and oh man i heard it all day...ugh... yes a nation is happy about what happened in BC, that Canada got the ending that we needed...was it on the level of the Paul Henderson goal in 1972 or 1980s Miracle on Ice? Now should the Olympics be given back to the amateur's? That is my question...NHL players allready have millions of dollars, they already have a busy NHL season...why not give the game back to its roots and have amateur player's representing Canada? Professional players have more to worry about than the Olympics..its the Olympic committee and big business..lots of $$$ generated from having the pros play...but what about integrity?

Of course i liked hearing that Obama lost his bet to Stephen Harper over the gold medal game...Obama Yuengling, a Pennsylvania regional brew, riding on the game. Harper wagered 24 bottles of Molson. The beer battle pitted Canada's oldest brewery against the oldest beer maker in the United States...Too bad it wouldn't have been for a case of Keith's...imagine Obama coming to our shores and buying a case of Nova Scotia's finest? Maybe up the stakes a bit...a White Castle franchise for Canada... the Americans get to discover poutine and donairs...

Well i was also hoping for a better result when i got home from work on Monday, but the Axemen have now fallen behind 2-1 in the AUS Semi-Finals to SMU...game four goes tonight at the Halifax Forum...a loss tonight and the 2009-00 Season for the Axemen is over, should the Axemen pull out a win, then game five will go Friday night at Acadia Arena...Go Axemen Go!!! After having a great season where they finished 2nd overall in the AUS to UNB, it would be hard to see them go out this way...

How is my education course going? Right now i am on lesson five which is about teaching grammar in the classroom..ouch...Robb and grammar...one question that was posed to me was what was my experience in learning the grammar of a second language? Well i was honest and stated that My experience with aquiring a new language was that it was needed for a university credit. It was a goal to meet an ends. Therefore while i did the required practice of the language as in attending class, participating in classroom activities and homework assignments, unfortunately there is no long term retention of the language because it was only needed for credit, not because it was for travelling, a job or anything of that nature.

Near the end of the chapter in the textbook there was a discussion about schooling and grammar, Education reasons- The inclusion of foreign languages in the school curriculum is not motivated entirely by the desire to foster communication between speakers of a different language. This inclusion has a more general goal and that is fostering intellectual development and grammar contrasts with the trivial content of many textbooks. Myself, i think it depends on what education system they are talking about, if they are talking about overseas where i have experience under my belt, it is the lure of teaching grammar, a new language, but really it is about getting the money from kids parent's, that is the real goal in my times teaching overseas...

Oh and i got word that there might be a UCW show at the end of April in Canning..you can always tell summer is on the way when the wrestling shows are being announced, ice will be out and its time for some wrassin...i wish more people would come out to the shows at times..UCW drew a great crowd last summer in Berk on Legends night with Leo Burke, Cuban Assassin and Lanny Poffo all in attendance..i hate hearing people saying oh i would go, i would have went while sitting around Tim Horny's, but they never do..its like anything, show support and they will come back..don't show support and they won't come back at all and people will still sit around and bitch and moan that wrestling does not come to their town...

So it is Hump Day Wednesday, i have more reading to do for class, Friday? Well if the Axemen win tonight in SMU, i will be at Acadia Arena watching game 5...if they do not...then the basketball Axemen will be playing Dal at 7:00 on Friday night...either way i think i am going to be at Acadia friday night...

Anyways folks...have a good one!
