Lone Wolf McQuade KILLCOUNT!!!

Lone Wolf McQuade ...An early favorite of Old Man Robb ...outstandingly done by AllOuttabubbeGum...memories of renting this on VHS in the Passage about a year after it was in theaters...remember those days kids? Where you had to wait around a frickin year before you got to see something on video that was in theaters? No Old Man Robb i don't?

Ah that is ok...anyways here is ol Chuck in his prime taking on some baddies led by David Carradine who kidnaps his daughter played by the hot Dana Kimmell from Friday The 13th Part 3 and Chuck is aided by Leon Issac Kennedy who i remember from being in those Penitentiary boxing films...i remember thinking yrs later when i saw Walker on the telly and thinking man ol Chuck is borrowing ALOT of Lone Wolf McQuade and even Chuck himself admitted that the movie was the inspiration behind the Walker character... so perhaps inadvertently Lone Wolf also contributed to the Walker, Texas Ranger Lever as popular on the Conan O'Brien show...

I guess Chuck Norris killed 'BILL' long before that uma thurman chickypoo...

On to other things at hand...

The Expendables 2...

Chuck is the rumor true?

The rumor is out that Chuck demanded the content be changed ...that the rough language and violence be toned down so that kids could come see the movie...Chuck reportedly said that he doesn't do movies like that with lots of swearing, that his tv show wasn't like that and said he could not do the movie with all of that bad naughty ol language... and it was said that even ol Sly Stallone confirmed the PG-13 rating to a number of media outlets...I like Chuck..but i didn't know he still had this kind of star power to be honest to go to Sly and the head honchos and get this movie toned down..what did you do Chuck? Wait till the movie was finished and in the can and then go complain? And really...does ol Chucky have that much star power and pull towards Stallone, Arnold, Jet Li, Van Damme, Lundgren, Willis and SO MANY OTHER action personalities that they would actually cow tail to one guy like that?

I call bullshit on that one...sorry...

Besides Chuck let's check the ratings for the following Norris classics...

A drumroll...

The Octagon – R. A Force of One – R. Silent Rage – R. Forced Vengeance – R. Missing in Action – R. Missing in Action II: The Beginning – R. Code of Silence – R. Invasion U.S.A. – R. The Delta Force – R. Braddock: Missing in Action III – R. Hero And The Terror – R. Delta Force 2 – R. Hellbound – R

Like i said i call bullshit...but who knows? I know i be there opening weekend!

The year so far...

How has 2012 been so far? Let the picture do the talking shall we?

Drumroll...

Well Well Well..

Old Man Robb has gone glow bowling...went to Halifax..the Passage.. visited the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and saw the Titanic display, saw a tribute to the Halifax Explosion, ate at John's Lunch for the first time since the 80s (It's still damn good too!) saw the legendary Deep Purple while everyone else was watching Superbowl and some old lady perform the half-time show..saw the Acadia Axemen lost a heartbreaking AUS opening round playoff series to UPEI, especially in game three when we outshot them, came back from a three goal deficit only to lose in double overtime...then just last week Old Man Robb returned to West Kings for the first time in years to see a play he had a minor role in exactly twenty years ago in 1992 at West Kings called "Bye Bye Birdie" it was my first time walking around the facility in eons..counted three pics of yours truly still on the walls...including my 1992 grad pic which was a humdinger...

That is what i have been up to...

That and school...

Old Man Robb has slipped a wee bit but feels is is recoverable...well my marks have slipped into the seventies and i am not too happy about it..let's not make excuses now..Old Man Robb has become too complacent.. too used to marks in the eighties and well i have let little stupid things distract me..things that have no business distracting me whatsoever and well Old Man Robb is now not going to let those things distract him from his ultimate goal..this is what it is all about...going back into the classroom at Acadia U but not as a student sitting in a classroom, but as a TEACHER at the front..for at least ten weeks i will be able to claim until i am old and gray that i in someway and somehow got a chance to teach at Acadia U...would i have thought this the first time i walked across that campus back in 1989/ 1990? HELL no!!! It took a lot of hard work to get to this point boys and girls and assorted wormslime...it took a hell of alot of nights and days in the books..amongst people sticking their finger on the end of me beak and telling me im no good...people who haven't spoken to me like a human being since the 80s saying that im no good...piss off assclowns i am good and ive come a long way...believe it or not...

Believe it or not the assclown pictured above used to be me twenty years ago... the same assclown that people believed would end up doing nothing...no encouragement whatsoever and the only person that did offer it and never gave up offering it was my Father...what i would do to have him around nowadays.. he didn't even have to say anything.. just that look, the quiet encouragement from that man was enough..just his being here would be more important than knowing what to say.. i often times wonder how different would life be if he was here today, i know i know..sometimes a wish is just a wish, but i just have to be patient, have confidence and believe in myself which can be a hard thing to do sometimes..it's like people are just waiting to see me fail ya know....

I hope your watching over me old friend...

Ok...in other news...

There is a secret plan afoot for my ten week practicum at Acadia U this summer..since my time has been significantly freed up i shall have some time on my hands this summer in order to concentrate on my practicum and well if all goes according to plan i might be able to spend that ten weeks in Wolfville! Yes yes yes Old Man Robb would be at Acadia U full time for a short time for the first time since the Tower days... well even the 2004-05 school yr i lived in Kentville and while i did have the ol Suzuki Tracker (RIP) it just wasn't the same at actually being able to live in good ol WolfVegas... and no please people do not get ahead of yourselves now..i be there to work...playtime will be limited and well...it really will not be happening all too much to be honest.. this will be Old Man Robb in familiar surroundings such as the Vaughn Library... preparing for my teaching days and probably finishing off my present Open Acadia course- Education 4863: Acquisition of Language. so there will be little time for the usual Old Man Robb antics...

It will be that...and hopefully not as pictured below...

Have a good one folks!

Charles Bronson: The Cannon Years

Awesome tribute to my main man Charles Bronson which i found on good ol Youtube from the legends at Cannon Pictures via Golan-Globus...good memories of watching the Cannon- Bronson films with my Dad on TBS which seemed to really love Bronson and Chuck Norris and back in the day working at Andrew's and hauling ol VHS back to Tower...always had lots of Cannon product, especially that 2nd year where me and friends started pretty much a Bronson- Norris cult and watched one of their flicks every week...if not everyday... it leads me to wonder why the brain trust at Cannon never had Bronson and Norris team up for a flick...ever...i mean we did get Fireswalker with Norris and Lou Gossett Jr..but never Bronson and Norris...

But this urban legend persists...

Cannon's original plans for The Delta Force to be a Bronson/Norris team-up fell through? Norris stayed aboard, so I imagine it would've been on Bronson's end. I always wondered why cast Lee Marvin while you have Charles Bronson right there at Cannon...mind-boggling...

And Cannon did release twelve...yes count em..twelve movies with the word "American" in the title, including all entries in the far from critically acclaimed American Ninja series

Anyways folks..enjoy the Bronson!

Hockey's Hardest Hitters Volume One and Two

Now here is a a throwback for all you nostalgic hockey fans...i remember the Christmas of 1989, Young Man Robb was still living in the Passage when Christmas morning not only did i receive the first of many Don Cherry Rock em Sock em Hockey's...but also another VHS (Remember VHS kids?) by the name of Hockey's Hardest Hitters from my Mom and Dad... i do believe i wore those two tapes out that winter with constant playing for me and for friends and the constant rewinding of my favorite parts like Steve Konroyd's hit on Geoff Courtnall with the announcer's huge "BIG HIT BY KONROYD!!!"

Sorry i could not find a high quality scan of the original Hardest Hitters...Vol 2 will have to do!

Now looking back at these tapes which i still have down in the dungeon/ mancave, it is like looking at a time capsule when compared to today's NHL, as these tapes were produced in 1989/ 1990 it was just before the Gil Stein debacle leading to Gary Buttman and today's NHL...you know Stein brought in that damn instigator rule..what does this mean?!?!?! Well it means open season on the players of the NHL without any fear of retribution.. it is a rule that has to go in Old Man Robb's and many other people's opinions....Can you remember the last time that someone went to get a hot dog during a fight?.....why did Wayne Gretzky have no injuries throughout his early glory days with the Oilers? Because he had Dave Semenko sitting on the bench that's why..Stevie Yzerman? Why no injuries? Because he had both Bob Probert sitting on the bench that's why... i wonder if Sidney Crosby had an enforcer on the bench along with the instigator rule waved if he would have the hockey injuries that he does today along with alot of other players...just saying... If you object to this, you can always go watch friggin figure skating or something...

The do-gooder's like to babble and disagree...let the NHL be the NHL i say....downsize..get rid of some of those oh so money losing teams.. look at Atlanta? They were a LOSER franchise..twice! First as the Flames and then as the Thrashers... they go to Winnipeg where Buttman really really didn't want a team and BOOM they sell out the arena with a LONG line of people who want season tickets and can't get them...the same would happen if a team was to move to Hamilton or back to Quebec City or hell even another team in the greater Toronto area.. Buttman wants to Americanize the game so bad and you know what Gary? Hockey is never going to sell in those States..not in those Southern States and the quicker you realize that the better off hockey is going to be...Sooner of later Buttman is going to run out of fools, of people who want to take on a money looser like the Coyotes who have never made a profit and hell even counting their years as the original Jets in Winnipeg have only ever won ONE playoff series and i believe that was in the 1980s...

Wow can Old Man Robb rant or what?

One last thing i must address...

There is a new documentary about NHL enforcers by the name of "The Last Gladiators" and the movie focuses on former NHL players like Chris Nilan whom i met at an NHL oldtimers game in Wolfville back in 2006. It deals with Nilan's demons that he faced on the ice as well as off the ice...a world where old players such as himself have no idea about how to go about fitting into...i have not seen nor heard of a wide release date for this documentary yet, but i would like to see a local theater..say the Acadia Cinema pick this one up for a showing.. i have no idea if that is too much ...but however it would be nice to see for a change. Something tells me that Old Man Robb is going to end up waiting for the DVD...

Have a good one folks!

NO Iron Maiden Tour Stops in the Maritimes....AGAIN!!!

What is the deal Maiden? The last show in the Maritime provinces of Canada was in 1999 and you went to New Brunswick...Saint John's..not even a Halifax show on that tour...what did Halifax do to Iron Maiden?

Iron Maiden announce "Maiden England World Tour" with extensive dates in North America this summer

Very Special Guest Alice Cooper to July 21, Coheed and Cambria after July 21....omg really rubbing in our face this time by having a legend like Alice with you...ugh

...
Following the massively successful Final Frontier World Tour 2010-11, IRON MAIDEN are back on the road this summer with a series of Arena, Amphitheatre and Festival shows in the U.S.A. and Canada, opening in Charlotte, NC, U.S.A. on June 21, and finishing in Houston, TX, on Aug 18 (dates listed below), to be followed by further dates around the World in 2013. The MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour”. This opening section of the World Tour is the band’s most extensive visit to North America for many years and includes a number of cities the band have not played in a very long time, such as Charlotte, Atlanta, Buffalo, Indianapolis and Salt Lake City.

And no Halifax since 1991...

Maybe i can't blame them with all the bullshit that has been going on with Halifax and concenrts..who would want to come. I think where very lucky to get Metallica last year...they turned down having Rush play here.. I heard that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would've came last year but once they heard all about the concert scandal they said no. :(

MAIDEN ENGLAND marks the third chapter in the History of Iron Maiden, a journey which began in 2004 with The Early Days DVD and subsequent 2005 Early Days Tour. Part Two followed in 2008 with the Live After Death DVD - the seminal 1984 concert recorded at Long Beach Arena (L.A) during the World Slavery Tour - and the band embarking on their groundbreaking Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008/9, which saw them play to over two million fans in almost 40 countries.

And yes Old Man Robb would love to own an Iron Maiden pinball machine as well...sigh...

Heel Vs Heel- A Wrestling Youtube Compliation

I came across this video series on Youtube the other day entitled "Heel Vs Heel" and basically it is a compilation/playlist of all the times the heels would wrestle one another. Now those who are not familiar with the wrestling terminology "Heel" I felt free to borrow this explanation of the term from Wikipedia:

In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a rudo in Lucha libre) is a villain character.[1] In non-wrestling jargon, heels are the "bad guys" in professional wrestling storylines.[2] They are typically opposed by a babyface or more simply, face (crowd favorite). Some tweeners (not explicitly regarded as good or bad) exhibit heel mannerisms. Heels are often portrayed as behaving in an immoral manner, breaking rules or otherwise taking advantage of their opponents outside the bounds of the rules of the match. Others do not (or rarely) break rules, but exhibit unlikeable personality traits. No matter the type of heel, the most important job is that of the antagonist role. Heels exist to provide a foil to the face wrestlers. If a given heel is cheered over the face, a promoter may opt to turn that heel to face, or to make the wrestler do something even more despicable to encourage heel heat.

The term "heel" is most likely derived from a slang usage of the word that first appeared around 1914, meaning "contemptible person". Common heel behavior includes cheating to win (e.g., using the ropes for leverage while pinning or attacking with foreign objects while the referee is looking away), attacking other wrestlers backstage, interfering with other wrestlers' matches, insulting the fans (referred to as "cheap heat"), and acting in a haughty or superior manner.[3]

Of course when Old Man Robb was younger his all time favorite heel wrestling was Nature Boy Ric Flair...why? Well i was used to the good guys/bad guys of Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling and was getting my first exposure to Hulk Hogan and the rest of the WWF gang, so all of a sudden on Grand Prix one day in 1984  comes this promo/ interview of this blonde haired dude well dressed with two gorgeous women at his side and it was a promo sent in by Ric Flair to promote him coming to the Maritimes to wrestle the top Grand Prix contenders...dude was well dressed, had hysterical interview skills talking about "Space Mountain" and "To be the man you got to be the man" ...well of a sudden Old Man Robb was a big Ric Flair fan...Whooooo

So that is my story..i always rooted for the bad guys, the worse they got the more i liked it...always rooted for guys like Killer Karl Krupp, Cuban Assassin, No Class Bobby Bass and the worst that the rest of Grand Prix could come up with...sure Leo Burke and Stephen Pettipas and the rest were going to shut them up at the Halifax Forum on a Thursday night, but it was the fun...the bad guys were the ones who made the show fun to watch with their yelling at the fans, threatening kids and old ladies...all part of the show

Of course i could spend all day going on and on about the various bad guys from the classic days of the WWF..but that would be another blog for another time folks!

Have a good one folks!

550 Post!!!

Well well well bloggeronies...how about this? Yes Robbblogs has made it to its 550th post!!! What does Old Man Robb have to say about the subject? Well Robbblogs was started in Perkins back in the Sub at Acadia U when i was sitting there frustrated and having another cup of the ol brown water well..coffee and i was steaming about life and about how i was going to be interviewed about my year at Mount A for the school paper and the asshole editor that they had at the time refused to print the interview saying it was putting down other schools when in reality it was a VERY well written comparison piece about the differences and similarities between both schools and i at the time had a hard time believing that Mount A could keep winning the MacLean's Magazine award for best Canadian University overall...i liked my time there, well some of my time there...but i cannot believe that Mount A was better than Acadia U... call me bias, call me a weirdo or a jerk and or late for dinner...but don't take away my opinion...

Now of course before Robbblogs...there was just Robert Reid Hawley...in the beginning there was Robert Reid Hawley...

Cute kid eh?

What the hell happened?

What has happened? Since this blog was started in 2004 i have had ups and downs, lost my Dad and had experiences teaching in both Japan and S Korea..some of it good and some of it bad...you find out what its like to teach in a place where its not a school, but a business..and NOVA was ran like a business..it didn't care about its students, all it cared about was getting $$$ off its students..the same as S Korea...all my hagwan cared about was making money off the parents of little children who threw their kids there after them being in school all day since 7 or 8 in the morning.. it was so disheartening for Old Man Robb that after i arrived back to Canada in 2009 that i decided to start taking my TESOL from the education department at Acadia U and so that i could be a legit ESL teacher and this summer is my practicum and im finishing the last of my three part course.. its going... going well.

Of course there are always those who oppose Old Man Robb... the pessimists who want to do nothing more than say things, usually now folks these things don't wanna say things to me face of course of course, no what they rather do is say it behind my back, to someone else and of course when Old Man Robb then has to go and hear it third or fourth hand. People get rather comfy behind a computer desk and not so damn much face to face. Is it the generation? Why be such a negative Nancy? Why? Can't think for yourself or have the imagination or the intestinal fortitude to go out there and get something done for yourself? No giddy up and go yourself? No some a holes just like to hide and talk a good game, but they become scarce when it comes time to produce...who cares if i am 40 frigging years of age? Too late? Over the hill? It's tough isn't it folks making all these kind of noise and to hear it from individuals who call me names like a has-been...interesting to hear it from people who can be called a "Never was"

So what i am asking is what exactly is a loser anyways? Well i looked up a few definitions on the good ol Urban Dictionary and this is what i found..ahem...which one of these is Old Man Robb?

Loser:

A person who is extremely cool and happy with themselves, yet looked down upon for being different. Just because someone is a loser doesn't mean they are not cool. The cool part about being a loser is getting to admit you are one......Losers are cool.

or is it this doozy of a definition...

Loser:

Apparently it's anyone who doesn't spend all his time and money at the bar every night, someone who doesn't feel the need to get laid every five seconds, anyone who doesn't make a million dollars a day, someone who's at home for more than two hours a day, anyone over the age of 12 who still lives at home with his parents, and anyone who's ever touched a computer or video-game.

"What do you mean you're not going out tonight? You must be some loser without a life!"

Ok folks...back to our regularly scheduled programming here...

All i can hope for it is when all of this is said and done and i am finished my practicum in July that i will be able to get something to do, if not it is pick up stakes and go somewhere again..but to where this time? Jeesh im running out of places to go.. if i was to go overseas again i would like to teach at a REAL school this time..someplace legitimate where i would be working with professionals, not amateurs and not ran on the cheap by some mom and pop ham and egger organization. So many people get fooled going to teach in what are called Mc-schools and in Hagwans and all the rest of the crap... a guiding hand would be nice..somewhere i hope the old Man is watching over me so i won't go somewhere idiotic again...

Well i have to get off here because it is a beautiful Valley afternoon and i just need to get out...perhaps pick up a ticket for this Sunday's Acadia Axemen-UPEI Panthers showdown at Acadia Arena...i cannot believe that UPEI has home ice advantage...never thought i would see the day that UPEI would have home ice advantage over the Axemen..i guess every dog has his day though.. anyways folks it should be a good one...

Have a good one folks!
