The Acadia Axemen Vs The Moncton Blue Eagles: Friday, February 22, 2008

Just a minute ago i scored tickets for tonight's opening round match-up between the Axemen and Moncton...i was shocked at how easily i was able to gain access to tickets, which leads me to suspect a couple of things. Well first of all it is Spring Break or Study Break or whatever you wanna call it and second of all, i hope that alot of people did not just go and give up on the boys and think it is all over because we lost the opening game of the best of 3 series 5-0 on Wednesday to Moncton. A week ago i thought that was it for the Axemen and they were not making it into the playoffs, this team with 12 rookies had a 7 game winning streak going and a big OT win over SMU to make it in...win or lose, we have lots to be proud of this season. Let's just hope tonight we can pull one out and make a game 3.

Subject...Robert Reid Hawley

Hello!
What is a happening bloggeronies? Well a letter from Acadia U arrived the other day and like being flirted with my the prom queen it was just a letter stating that they had recieved my application for admission to the Bachelor of Education program and now that the appropriate documentation is now in the right hands, they can now proceed and it will take a few weeks. How is Robb feeling? Well relieved that they now have everything...stressed because they have everything and well...wondering what is next...do they take me? Do i get to go back to where i really wanna be? Get back to where i once belonged? Or do they say no? Do i pick up stakes and head back overseas? Also back to where i once belonged? I am not going to work in Greenwood for the rest of my life that is for certain...What else is new...well the hammer fell on something else that was effecting Robb...am i happy? Well i feel i can breathe...i made a mistake, something i have done quite a bit of during the last few years and now i feel relieved (there is that word...relief again!) i feel free...at the expense of another, im sorry that i did that...but there was no way that it would have ever worked...believe me. So what else is happening? Well i have to eat some crow because lo and behold the Axemen made it into the playoffs! They beat SMU Friday night in OT and lost to UNB on Saturday, tonight they are playing in Moncton and Friday night they are playing back at Acadia Arena...i want to go, but i already had plans for Friday night and i believe that tickets will be hard to come across...another one of my beef's im afraid...if anyone can see my pics on Facebook they will see lots of pics of earlier this season of the Axemen playing STFX and Moncton and guess what you will see....take a guess...lots of empty and i mean EMPTY seats...no what we have here again folks is what Sir Robbocop likes to call jumping on the bandwagon, the worst kind of sports fan there is....they didn't go all season, staying home in the ol easychair, and being a armchair quarterback and babbling on and on and on about how bad the team was...but did they go to any of the games? HELL NO! Its just something that irks me...because they win a few and the Arena is the place to be, cause they are fans? No! It is cause they want to be seen at the game cheering on the home team and pushing fans out of the way for the chance to get a t-shirt or a party horn or whatever and saying i had faith the whole time! BULLSHIT!!!! What else is happening? How's about Floyd Mayweather showing up at WWF's No Way Out and legitimately breaking the Big Show's nose? The match has been signed for Wrestlemania, was it staged? Yes and no...they were probably supposed to have a confrontation, just that i don't think Floyd was supposed to break his beak...Big Show looked mighty pissed off afterwards i gotta admit....why do boxers come out with like a posse of 30 guys anyways? Anyone see the Habs come back and down the Rangers 6-5 last night? What a team! 4 in a row, aiming for 5 and now Gainey is taking aim at the trade deadline...whom is coming to Montreal? Hossa? Sundin? Tanguay? Who is leaving? Ryder? One of the young talents? Gainey...just do not break up a team that is winning and is tied with Ottawa ok? Found a job ad for Becoming a Parliamentary Guide at the Parliament of Canada, the only drawback to that is that you must be billingual and in school...well if i was accepted into Acadia, then there is that...maybe i would have to break out my French For Dummies book! LOL! Anyone else see the 9-11 Conspiracy hecklers who seem to have targeted Billy Clinton? Well i don't know about this whole conspiracy stuff, it seems to get people talking, but do you remember when the movie JFK came out? There were JFK conspiracies up the ying-yang, saying the Cubans (Where good ol Castro is finally stepping down after 49 yrs) where in on it and the Russans were in on it, the CIA was in on it, FBI was in on it, you name it....they were in on it. Was 9-11 an inside job just to start an oil war in the Middle East? Just so Bush JR could finish what his daddy started in 1990-91? That the Two Towers fell due to a controlled demolition and that other plane that crashed in Pennsylvania was shot down by American jet fighters? I don't know...people just like to chat/ talk...maybe Clinton was right when approached by hecklers at a State Dinner in October when he remarked, "How Dare You?" to a heckler's comment about 9-11 being an inside job. Anyways i gotta get showered and walk me doggies, tomorrow i have off and it looks to be a most interesting day i gotta say....later peeps!

My Bloody Valentine preview 1981 slasher

Sometimes I Sit...Sometimes I Think...

Hello bloggeronies...what is a happening? Me? Oh not too too much...basically working for the weekend, now i am in the middle of two days off...whoooooooooooo!!! What else is a happening? Went to see the Axemen play Moncton U last week, they came back from a two goal deficit only to lose in that damn shootout, then they were bombed by UNB the next night in Wolfville...i believe that the bubble has bursted for the young Axemen with three straight losses and i don't believe that there will be no playoffs this year, i have half a mind to go see the Friday night game against SMU...i believe that the Huskies are still playing their homedates at the Forum..
The CIS Hockey Standings are as follows if anyone is curious...

1) UNB
2) Alberta
3) Lakehead
4) Saint Mary's
5) UQTR
6) Saskatchewan
7) Calgary
8) Moncton
9) Western Ontario
10) McGill
before the game i did go to Joe's Food Emporium and had an Axemen Sub...i need to order that thing without eggplant or whatever the hell they put on it and there was a nice set-up in the Alumni room with memerbellia of old Axemen glories...still no Keiths though...grrrrrrrrrrrrr..... so what else is a happening? Well no word yet from Acadia, so Robb is not resting on his laurels, i made contact with someone in South Korea and with another group that runs ESL in Japan called Gaba which has a location right in Kita-Senju where ...gasp...it is very close to the former NOVA where yours truly worked at...i fired a resume off to them ASAP this morning. What else is a happening? Well work is interesting as i basically had to tell someone to back off and well they did not take it so well and did not work for a few days. I have no time for bullshit, i have my career and my life to look forward to and as i have said before and i will say it again, my life is with getting into Acadia and going to the School of Education and taking Primary Education. If i do not get in, it is back overseas for me.... that cut and dried, that simple. So what else Robbo? Well someone else i know got an old don't say i told ya so....but i told ya so...what does it take? How much does one have to get shit thrown at them till they smarten the hell up? Well Facebook has temporarily disabled my account....too many messages and some BS about spam...whatever eh? I think i was too popular...ROFL!!!! Im going to hang out with my little pocket sized buddy today, we didnt hang in awhile and she wanted to go see Rambo IV, but last night was the last night for it in New Minas...now if this was some 15 yrs ago before the Empire chain came to New Minas, there would be somewhere around here where we could possibly see it cause all the towns has movie theatres....Windsor, Wolfville...well they have one, but all they play is artsy-fartsy stuff, Kentville and Middleton...all gone...The Friday The 13th remake begins filming in April in Austin, Texas...the Voorhees Chainsaw Massacre? my god i could not believe that happened to former Hab Richard Zednik.....he is lucky to be alive after a skate slashed his neck this week while Florida was playing Buffalo...what is errie is that is happened some 17-18 yrs after Clint Malarchuk has his throat slashed while playing for Buffalo- both incidents happening in Buffalo....crazy...Well gang, it is Valentines and i need to shower, walk the doggies and go do stuff...have fun!

The Ten Commandments of College/ University...

Found this one...had to post...nuff said....

A Student was searching for divine inspiration. Student walked high on the mountain of knowledge and came across God. Student asked God how to live life as a college kid should. And God said unto him, follow these Ten Commandments and you shall be all a college kid is. And Student thanked God and it was good. And Student spread the Ten Commandments of College to all.

I- Thou Shalt NapAnd God gave unto Student a great gift, the gift of napping. God said to him, You shall spend half your day napping. You shall nap in class, in your room and in your friend's room. And God said, if you don't nap, you will not be able to stay up all night drinking. And Student said, Nap I shall, and it was good.

II- Thou Shalt Get Sick All the TimeNow God said to Student, you must be sick all of the time. And student said why. And God said unto him, you shall share drinks, stay up too late, drink too much and make out with people you don't know. Therefore, God said, you shall be sick all year round. But God said, blessed are the sick for they have partied the hardest. And it was good.

III- Thou Shalt Write Witty Away MessagesStudent asked, but God, how will I show everyone that I am funny? And God said unto him, thou shall write witty away messages. God said to student, you shall never just say you are in the shower, you shall say you are getting wet and wild...in the shower. You shall never say you are at class, you shall say you are sleeping...in class. God said, if you do not write witty away messages, I shall smite you. Blessed are the funny, for they will get many girls to be their friends but never hook up with them. And it was good.

IV- Thou Shalt Wear a HoodieAnd then Student asked God, God how do I look like a college kid. And God said unto student, you must wear a hoodie, for it is a useful garment. And you shall never wash it either. Student asked God what kind of Hoodie should it be and God said, you shall own one with your school's logo on it and you shall own many others of varying colors and creeds. And Student was pleased and God was pleased.

V- Thou Shalt Shit a LotAnd Student asked of his bathroom habit and God told him, Student, you shall eat in the Cafeteria and you shall shit a lot. And it will not be good shit, it will be the shit of the devil for your ass shall burn for hours. Your school shall put laxatives in their food and you shall feel their pain. And Student began to weep, and God said unto him, Student, fear not the shit, for all your fellow students will be experiencing the same. And Student dried his eyes and thanked God and God told him to use wet naps to ease the pain.

VI- Thou Shalt Eat EasyMacStudent asked unto God if there was any alternatives to the cafeteria, and God said to him, you shall eat a lot of EasyMac. It is easy to make and you don't need milk or a stove. And student said microwaves were forbidden by the RA. And God said to him, you shall hide the microwave under your bed with a towel on top. And Student asked, what if it is discovered. And God told him to stop being such a pussy, and it was good.

VII- Thou Shalt Hook UpStudent then asked of sex. And God said, Student, you shall hook up and be happy. You shall go home with random people every weekend and forget about them the next day. You shall see them at class and be awkward amongst their company. You shall exchange saliva at bars and parties and it will be good. And Student became gleeful and God told Student to wrap it up because He knows where she has been, but Student does not.

VIII- Thou Shalt Join a Club and Never Go to MeetingsStudent inquired of his spare time and God reminded him that he should be napping. But Student said he wanted to do other things. So God said unto him, you shall join a club at the beginning of the semester, but then never go to meetings. And Student asked why he should not go to meetings, and God told him, because the glee club is gay. And Student understood His wisdom.

IX- Thou Shalt Wake Up ConfusedGod said to Student, there will come many a day when you shall wake up in the bed of another and not know where you are. You will not remember what you did last night and you shall be confused. You will see that you have nipple rings and a tattoo now and are covered in Sharpie. And Student was disturbed by this, but God said, you shall tell great stories about it to your friends someday. And Student understood and God took a sip of a beer. And God gave Student the final Commandment

X- Thou Shalt Gain WeightAnd Student wished to hear the final commandment and God said he would not like it. But Student insisted, so God said unto him, you shall gain weight. However, God said, you will not buy new clothes, so you will wear sweat pants a lot. God said, Student, you will watch a lot of TV and become fat to which Student wept profusely. But God comforted Student saying, you will still get ass even if you cannot tie your shoes anymore. Student felt better and God pointed to Student's chest saying, those will soon be bitch tits.

And it was good. This is the word of God, follow the Ten Commandments of College or you will be smote!

All You Need To Know About Robert Reid Hawley....and More....

"Don't tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results."- George S. Patton

Hey hey!
Well gang what is a new after all this time? Well my stuff is sent to Acadia, they have everything they needed for my entry into the Bachelor of Education program. My transcripts from Mount Allison were late in arriving. I was up there for an appointment at the School of Education and they told me that a 2.5 is what they are looking for. Now my last two years at Acadia i had a 2.88 and a 2.44...however i did go to Mount Allison in 2003-04 and my transfer GPA to Acadia was a 2.77...so it remains to be seen if i will get in or not, i have all the experience they are looking for through my work with children in Japan, lots of volunteer experience with the handicapped though the work relatationship with Venus and Carleton Road Industries in Lawerencetown so it remains to be seen gang, the biggest opstacle in the way is going to be a lack of math and or science. What i have heard through the grapevine is that in the past some have been accepted that had neither, but had to take a summer course in order to make up for it when September rolls around. If it means getting into the Bachelor of Education programme at my alma mater, where i really wanna be anyways, then so be it. Well gang....last Sat i did make it up to the city to go see OZZY...OZzy F'n Osbourne...how was it? Well i dunno...i saw the main man...but yet i feel cheated, he played for some 90 minutes, but 15 of it was Zakk Wilde's gutair solo and a n other 10 was spent on some new slow song he sang with Sharon with him. That is 25/90 minutes and i wanted more...ya know...more oldies from the 80s, more Sabbath stuff...Monday Ozzy performed again, but the only differenc ein the set was that he performed War Pigs...met up with Craig and we went for a ride to the Passage, went to visit the old EPJH and went for a walk and photo op down to Joint Rock which anyone who ever lived in the Passage knows and or has a story or two aboot.... went to drop in on Criag's folks who i had not seen since Craig's wedding in September of 1996...some 11 years!!! We went to A&W where we saw my future wife Weezy, then over to our friend Richard's party, Rich showed us his gutair hero game and then to the concert, we missed the opener...saw Ozzy and then hit the Alehouse where we stayed for a bit, had some drinkies, roared at the empty vending machine, left thought we saw our grade 6-9 gym teacher walking in the middle of traffic, told some street performer witha beard ZZ Top would jizz themselves for to take lessons while he was butchering Crazy Train and then laughed all the way back home....it sounded like a grade 5 class coming home at some 3:00 in the morning....Twinkies...never think of them the same ever ever again..... Went to see Rambo IV the next day, best action flick so far of 2008...lots of violence as Rambo goes to Burma and blows the living shit out of everyhing...what was the bodycount? 300? I see Stallone has been offered a 2 picture deal...if he does sequels to the 2 R's.....Do we need a Rocky VII? Rambo V...ye sit can be done as other older action stars like Bruce Willis are doing good with stuff like Die Hard IV...but man..sometimes enough is enough...but i did get the Rambo Boxset and while i think there will be a new set with the fourth film, it was awesome to finally see the original ending for First Blood where the Colonel shoots Rambo...Went to see my little pocket sized pal and watched the WWE Royal Rumble at her place, it was fun...but man seeing Superfly Snuka and Roddy Piper when they are almost 60 is like...ummmmm...less said the better, John Cena won the Rumble in a complete suprise, but like does not Vince not see that the MSG crowd booed the shit out of Cena after his enterance? Or Rey Mysterio during his match with Edge? Vince is so out of touch with the wrestling landscape since buying WCW in 2001...and TNA is so busy trying to be WWE that they are not competition for them, almost like a piss pour 4th brand...my little buddy is actually laid up cause she re-hurt her back while walking her dog...hope all will be well..Well my Axemen whom i am probably going to go see on my night off on Friday have won 6 out of their last 7 games putting them ....gasp...almost in the run for a playoff spot...weird with the start to the season being so so bad and them with like some 12 new players this year... i haven't been to a game since November and i badly need to go see one. How's about my Habs? Not too too far behind the Sens now in the East...this is their best chance with the Maple Laughs in turmoil, although firing Ferguson Jr was a step in the right direction, no disrespect to Fergy Sr (RIP) but his track record as a GM was rather spotty as well, well the Leafs suck, Sabres suck, Bruins are ok and the Sens are injured...Habs chance is now! When i was at the Market the other day in Wolfville, Rick showed me an issue of Frank, the Maritime Enquirer and they did a nice 4 page spread on the Market....i loved reading about Rick's dislike of gangster rap..."Bodycount? I'll give ya a Bodycount!" LOL!!! Well i haven't said a word aboot it...but i will, the Gobblygooker is finally gone from the big A....good riddance...two strikes in four years...going to China when your faculty strikes? Only Nixon could go to China they say, it has been a reign of terror...maybe Ogglethorpe will come back?...no? However how did we go from 3900 students in 2003-04 to 2800 in 2007-08? A 24% drop in enrollment according to a site i saw...it does not take a genius to figure it out...a ridculous tuition rate (highest in Canada) wrongful dismissals and a high turnover rate in management...someone is making out like a bandit here and it sure as hell is not the students...the woman is gone, but i do agree that an audit should be done...something stinks..
Speaking of stinky...how's about those Patriots? HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH!!!! Man it always does my heart good to see an underdog make good and the Giants did just that, Manning steps out of the old man's shadow and Brady Bunch, Moss and the rest of the Pats go down! And what was with Bill Belichick leaving the field before the game frickin ended? Live with your team, die with your team brother....totally classless...hey Randy Moss should know something about abandoning the team with time left! First you guys spy on the rest of the NFL, then choke up after going 16-0 or whatever....Bobby Knight quit this week, i think Belichick should take a hint and join him.
Well im going to a fixed schedule at work, handed in an application for it last night, i am going to work Mon, Tue, Wed- have Thur & Friday off and work Sat and Sunday, this works so so so much better for me than working all week and then checking on Sat when as to when i am working in the coming week, i can organize, plan things better. Work is generally going good, there are some distractions that i will take care of i assure you of that, some times...some people just do not get it, they want you to just drop everything and do the opposite of what you are....not me, i have worked way too long and way too hard to give up my dream of becoming a teacher/ educator....giving it up to stay for the rest of my years in Greenwood/ Middleton? Thanks but no thanks is what i have to say on that subject, some people do not look at the big picture...some need to start to and others just have no frickin idea of what the fuck they are talking about. If my dream does not happen this year...it is back to being a beast in the East and that means going back to Japan and or maybe going to South Korea and teaching ESL there...then re-applying the next year, not just to Acadia, but again to Saint Thomas whom were having their own strike troubles this year as well....and finally in other news...i think someone finally has their shit together...finally....
Well that is the Robbie Rant for now...later!

It Could Be.......

"There is no happiness except in the realization that we have accomplished something."-
Henry Ford

Hey folks! What is happening in Old Man Robb land? Well Acadia is happening, well no happening yet, but am i close? No cigar? Well yesterday i was up for a meeting at the School of Education and it went ok, there is one thing missing from my application, now wait there are two things, namely science and math. I have history/ arts and english covered, but they need 6-9 hrs of math/ science. What is Robbocop to do? Well they do make exemptions in certain circumstances, is this a special circumstance? Well one thing that one can do if accepted is take summer courses in math/ science. The other solution is to not be accepted this year and then have a follow-up session on what went wrong in the application process...could be marks, couold be a lack of this and of that. I have good volunteer experiences, i have worked with children from my experience in Japan with NOVA, including two days a week being in charge of kids schools in Ayase and Nisheri. I have worked with the handicapped, as a matter of fact even though i have rarely mentioned it, i worked with a handicapped man at the store formerly known as Andrew's since 2004 and i wrote reports every week on his progress to his former employers down in Lawerencetown, and my three letters of recommendation came from highly reputable sources in the Acadia University community. The marks are the only things that are probably going to not help as i was never an A list student. What to do? Go back to Japan with Aeon whom recently accepted my letter on "Why I Want To Live in Japan?" and the promise of a single apartment? Well it would be a year of teaching kids, something to put on the application for next year, then you run into the same math/ science problem, and no sociology to them is not seen as a science, although at other universities/ colleges sociology is seen as a science. One solution that brought forth an arguement with my Mother yesterday was for me to go back and take some sciences/math courses, maybe start in easy with a summer course and i am not talking big time courses here, just basics to help me get those nine hours. Mom of course was negative about it, (What's new? LOL!) and i would go full time like i was planning to with the school of education and here is the kicker...live on campus...in maybe a place like Raymond House where it is a res for seniors...ahhhh so much to think about eh? However i did do a letter for "Why Teaching Matters to Me." Here is a sample....

"Teaching matters because as educators we are the key to others success,
it is a satisfying feeling seeing others benifit because of the wisdom upon
you were able to give them. It is benificial that we teach children not just
skills in the areas of reading and writing, but also life skills, how to get
along with other people regardless of race, age and social background. What
matters to myself is that children have a role model, a teacher who excells at
what they do and can communicate that wisdom and transfer it to them.
What makes a good teacher? Someone whom can listen, communicate with
others, is open to new ideas and technologies. As the world changes, so does
teaching, the subject matter and new skills. As educators of the leaders of
tomorrow we are taking care of young people and shaping what they must know
for the day will come where they are taking care of us, the educators.
Inspiration and the will to learn are goals not easily achieved, not everyone
can communicate with others and that as well must be accepted.
With hope i can become an educator and be able to share the knowledge i
have acquired through my learnings at the first and secondary levels of
education and in my travels in this world, knowing someone has learned from me
is a goal and an honor that cannot be eclipsed, sharing knowledge and learning
from one another is something that earns respect among your students and
fellow peers, that is why teaching others matters to me."

Ok...maybe not Pulitzer/ Nobel Peace Prize material...but it is a start.
What else is happening? Oh hanging with my Little buddy a bit, not so much in the past little bit, went to her place for a potluck supper a few weeks ago, it was fun. It was the same day as the Penguins playing the Sabres in the outdoor game. We then came back here and watched Rocky, the first one. Due to working lots, i have not seen as much as her as i would have liked to, i wanted to go to the Axemen game tonight against UPEI, but due to the weather and the lack of a ride, i don't think that may be possible. Work is ok, there are complications of sorts happening, some stuff that Robb should have a better handle on, but i think in time things will work themselves out eventually. I did go see my old student advisor the other day in Wolfville, he wanted to know about my times in Japan, why NOVA went out, what i am doing now and we put together a great new resume and cover letter for me. Went to go see Alien Vs Predator 2 the other day, not too bad..better than the first team up between the two, loved seeing the Alien on modern day earth for the first time and it was a throw back to the first Predator w/ Arnold, esp in the scenes in the woods. So can you believe that in a week i will be going to go see the prince of Darkness himself? OZZY F'n Osbourne? It looks like i am going to be at Craig's for the night and then come home on that Sunday. I hope we go take a tour of the Passage. That would be good times...by the way i am now the moderator for a group on Facebook called "80s Metal"...it is cheesy, but fun. Anyhow that is all for now from Robbland...have a great one!
