How Soon Is Now?

Hello all you webslingers! Hope everyone had an ok Merry X-miss...or something like that. Me marks came in and the first batch made me feel all chummy and stuff....i saw an A-, B+ and a B...then i saw my mark for Quanitative Methods...well let's just say that old Robbo is getting a tutor ASAP!!! Like i said before, i cannot do this math crap! Save future generations of Acadia sociologists and combine quanitative and qualitative methods or you will lose some potentially good students. Well, i have been working lots over the holidays and i am now off till Saturday and Sunday. I am not back in school till the 10th of October, i wish i knew who was teaching Sociology of Education!?!?!?!?!?!?! There is still no prof posted as of yet. Well, what did i get for X-mass? I recieved lots of clothes, an MP3 player! It is cool on so many levels! It can record too! I might get all Nixon and start recording everything! My brother bought me a Freddy Kruger bobblehead and a Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake....i will always prefer the 1974 original though....Mostly i have been relaxing and watching Team Canada at the World Junior Tournament, although it was hard to be entertained by them beating Germany 9-0 last night. I love my home country, but there is nothing entertaining about watching a pummeling...i would much prefer a 4-3 or 5-4 score...it is entertaining and stuff...and throw away that F***ing shootout!!!! Yeah yeah you naysayers think it is cool and stuff, but wait until the NHL has all of those unmotivated millionare superstars back on the ice and then the Stanley Cup is going to be decided on a shootout and your hometown team loses due to a shoot out...then watch the bitching...it would be the worst thing to happen to hockey since that fricking instigator rule...or Gary Bettman...My Dad had bad gas the last few days and had to go to the hospital to find out that he had food poisoning!?!?!?!? it was from the food that he had eaten at the truck stop in New Minas, at least he is ok now. I had to work Monday in that damn storm, my usual 10 minute walk to work took 40 minutes, i stopped at our Needs to pick up some snacks and the girls there looked like they wanted to freak out, Timmy's was closed, it was hysterical watching all of the cars driving around their parking lot like vultures waiting to see if they were magically about to open. For all of my old-school wrestling buddies, the new "Legends of Wrestling: Showdown" for PS2 rocked!!! You can also choose what kind of arena you wanted to wrestle in! Maple Leaf Gardens, The Boston Garden, MSG! It was fun stuff indeedy! By the way, this rules! Anyways i am off to bed and then ...well...whatever...lates!

Believe In What You Want

Hello webslingers, naysayers...whatever, i am back sooooooooooooo long time no blog eh? Well, tomorrow me first term marks are gonna be posted on the Acadia Website. Why fret now? Well, i already know the marks for Social Theory and Seminar and i figured out the mark for Qualitative Methods, it is the mark for Quanitative that worries me some. Yes the examination for Quanitative Methods was on the 9th of December and it was well...stinky to say the very least, and i had a 68% going into the examination, mostly on the strength of my Annotated Bibliography that earned me a B+, i had hoped for at least an A-, so i calculated and it gave me 40.2/60, so in reality i had to make 19.8/40 to earn a 60% for the term. The good news is that this term is worth 40% of our mark, leaving 60% of the work to be done this upcoming term. The bad news is that it is now going to be almost all exclusively MATH...read that boys and girls...MATH!!!! My arch-enemy, my Kriptomite...jeesh...Well, i shall check the marks sometime over the holiday....Well...last night was our staff x-mass party at my manager's house and it was a fun time...a drunken time...but nonethless a fun time...i was really wasted and hit on all the women there, it was all in fun though, i remember blacking out on the floor and waking up on the couch all tucked in and stuff, i recieved my secret Santa gift...it was a doll of a perverted old man who masterbated to the theme from the Lone Ranger...don't ask...but it was damn hysterical stuff indeedy.... i came home and crashed and then worked the afternoon shift in Greenwood...i am off for the next four days and will be doing alot of x-mass shopping...i chatted quite a bit with our staff that still atttends high school and i was told that they are stuck in school until the 23rd of December...i mean come on! They don't do examinations until after x-mass anyways! What are they teaching kids really? I heard that kids still have to sign out in order to leave the school grounds and that teachers waste inorderate amounts of time chasing people around, yelling at kids in the hallways to get to class, etc etc...i mean are they really getting these young fellows ready for university? There is more to this life than pencils, pens and notepads, students must be taught that if they are going to go the university route that they are going to have freedom, and many will be away from the anal-retentive clutches of their parents, teachers etc for like the first time and have no damn idea what they are getting into! Listen to me...professors, nice people, but for the most part i have to break it to ya laddy...THEY DO NOT CARE!!!..i must F***ing repeat myself, THEY DO NOT CARE!!!!! There! I said it! Little Johnny A Student is just a number in Mr, Mrs or Miss Professor's class and do not care that you were an A+++ student from Deliverance County, Nova Scotia, plus if you are going to live in Res, you will, in the exception of a potentially anal retentive RA, have your freedom! No parents, brothers, sisters...nothing! Maybe that is why so many students go with friends from high school, i was different, i worked, went to community college, studied under the B***H of the Baskervilles for a whole waste of a year, but i finally got into res and i was sooooooooooo happy to not see anyone from high school there, why? Well i went to school with all of them for so long, i am not being hateful, but i wanted to meet new people, hang out with new people, grow a little ya know? I found those people that went to university with people they went to high school with in many cases, did not grow...they just stayed redunant, doing the same old, same old, they might as well not went to school and stayed home and went to hang at the mall with all the other losers....hey..what the hell is going on with the letting go of Tim Darling as Acadia's basketball coach? He had a record of 3 and 2 at the time, i guess it was an internal matter or something, i feel not all is well with Acadia sports ..i finally viewed both Shaun of the Dead and Napoleon Dynamite this weekend...both were awesomely done, independent films, a good break from the usual in-door Bullstuff that Hollywood has been turning out as of late. Anyways, it is 11:45 or so, i am NOT looking at my grades and stuff this week, so have a good one and i will report me findings later captain...lates!

Molly's Reach Posted by Hello
Good ol' Molly's Reach in Gibbons, BC. I have never been there (i plan on it though...i am weird eh?) but it has been part of me life ever since...well...i was like 2-3 yrs of age. Plus, it is something i can bug me ol' buddy Grover aboot..well..he's not from Gibbons...but close enough..hehehehehe.

Not Fade Away

Hello webslingers and all others...Well how are things? Well i made 75% on my British-India Paper and 77%, a B+ on the term overall for my Seminar Class. Not too bad, i have yet to recieve a mark for Qualitative Method, but my average was an A- before the final paper, so hopefully all is well in that department. However, my one and only examination is on Thursday night...that is Qualitative Methods and i cannot remember anything!!! I try and try and try again...still it all turns to S***!!! Now stuff like Milgram’s obedience study and the Zimbardo Prison Experiment i can remember...but then the numbers and rules start and i confuse them all...i mean i did history and sociology for a damn reason...to NOT do math...we discussed this in qualitative methods the other day and someone nailed it right on the head when they stated, "If i wanted to do math, i would have taken business." There is the problem that the soc department is going to have next yr cause my qualitative prof is going on sabbatical and so there will not be a, as of this writing, qualitative methods course available for students next year. The other problem that they have is if they give soc students a choice between qualitative and quantitative methods, you will have 60 students in one class (qualitative) and 15 in the other (quantitative) well...got news for ya all...not all soc students want to go into crunching numbers and become a statistician or something like that. I just want this class over with....i mean i get this stuff all mixed the hell up...dependent and independent variables, The five characteristics of causal hypothesis, Tautology, Teleology, grounded theory, Triangulation of methods, theory, observers, measures, First, second and third order interpretation...etc..etc...etc...all can go straight to F***ing hell!!! C'mon dudes, what is wrong with this picture? I just passed seminar, social theory and qualitative methods!!! It is like Kingstec where you did not have your choice of either radio or television, you had to take both...and we wonder why the radio is bleak...Anyways me buddy Linders had me crash her history seminar party at Paddy's last Thursday...it was ok, i only knew a few of the kids, some where annoying as frickin hell, especially this one Micheal Moore wannabe, who came off as an elitest P****!!! One kid, a nice little fellow stated that i was a Tower legend...that is a name i hear quite a bit, said many of the residents there now would not know me if they fell over me...i hate to tell him, but one move back in and they would all know the Legend...man listen to myself!!! Nice to see the Campus D****bag continue to dig a hole with his constantly sad editorials, esp the recent one on tuition...nice views, from a brat with a silver spoon stuck in his yam, go away and take Micheal Moore Jr with you...plus tell Jr that none of the girls he was working on at Paddy's loked like they would rather be at a funeral home being embalmed than listening to any of his sad sounding BS...love them emo, sooky wannabe's...off to Alcatraz with em i say... I worked 17 hrs this weekend and we are having our staff party at our managers house and it is a sleepover/ BYOB party, comeplete w/ Secret Santa...our Middleton manager, who actually dated me for a spell in grade 11 (lucky her eh?) is refusing to take part, but then again she was not a party girl...ever...whatever, it shall be fun times....Anyways me parents are gone to Hfx today, my Dad is having his annual check-up with the cancer doctor, all signs point to all being well, but this is a good percaution...they are not comin home till Wednesday, there is a Beachcombers reunion movie on tonight..i remember watching the first reunion movie on 3rd with Deuce Bigelow and Greg and the gang...lots of fun...anyways love to stay and be all chatty and stuff...but i has to go webslingers, gotta get some gas, some doggie food and then study till i drop...lates!

The Last Place You Look...

Greetings webslingers! Well today has been most productive so far, i went to my final Social Theory class and recieved my second essay examination back...i made 84%...i was happy as a clam!!! This left me with a B+ for the term, for my permanent record...take that Mount A Crapmaster...i should definitly be sending the winner of the Col Sanders look a like contest a newly revised grad picy at the end of this school year. However i am not completely out of the Camp Crystal Lake woods yet....tommorrow i recieve back my project on British-India for Seminar as well as my Participant Observation paper for Qualitative Methods. Last night i passed in my Annotated Bibliography paper for Quantitative...i hope it is ok, i did not so hot on the midterm and i would really like a nice mark...i have alot of review to do for my examination which is on Thursday of next week from 7:00-10:00 in the gym....The format of the examination is 40% for multiple choice and fill in the blanks as well as 60% for problem solving and short answer questions. The girl who sits next to me in class made 94% on the midterm, i should soooooooooooooo contact her and see if she shall help me with getting the math stuff downpat in order for me to even have half a hope in hell...i mean i am going to have to really bear down and study just all the definitions and other concepts... i mean stuff like deductive and inductive reasoning, causality and temporal order, conceptualization and operationalization...what the hell is all this bullstuff????!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? I really ...really have to hit thy books...and yet before i gots back me 82% this morning, i was fretting like you would not believe...i even drank a Budwiser cause it was the only kind of booze left in the apartment...a frickin Budwiser?!?!!??! i had a pal named Eli last yr, and i swore it was the only think he drank! Man...watered down worm medicine would be a much better name, On Monday i grew som frustriated with studying that i went for a drive and actually ended up in Hantsport, where i went to Tim Horny's and called me old pally Lindy up on me celly...actually i only use my celly when i absolutely have to...hate them drivers who have em stuck in their ears permanently, wish they had em stuck in their gladiolus maximums .....oh..i almost forggot..watch out for good ol' Hantsport, they do not have a gas station...i had to go to a nearby Native reservation last summer and i thought i was going to lose my head...eek...last night after class i was in the Vaughn till aboot 12 midnight and i wrote a girl that lived in Harper last yr...dunno if she would respond, i was looking for something else, me buddy Captain Russell's actual address and came across her picy quite by accident. Hope she responds, if not...oh well....Today is the first of December and for the first time all term...i ran into Gorgeous Glen right here at Perkins...he has been off doing road work for Acadia, going to all the high schools all over NS, NB, PEI and even Nfld to talk to kids and convince them to come here...Glen was my RA my last year in Tower, so it was kind of strange when he turned around and saw me here...he marked out badly, became speechless like a McNutt, wonder if George Bush is dodging rocks as we speak right now in Hfx? ....Anyways i have to gets going, got me some studying to do, then i have to pick up Richie Ramone at 4:30 and then more studying at the ol' Vaughn tonight...all ladies are encouraged to drop me a line...yeah whatever Old Man Robb! So in the meantime and in-between time...lates!

Capital Theatre Posted by Hello
The Capital Theatre in Middleton, now known as the Capital Bar & Grill, the site of many fun movie nights for Robbo from 1990 to Summer 1999 when it closed its doors for the last time.

I'm Changing, Arranging

Too busy is how i would sum up this entire last week cool dudes and foxy ladies. Well, my school work for this term, with the exception of my Quantitative Methods examination on the 9th of December is DONE! Whooooooooooo! I am in the middle of printing out my Annotated Bibliography for Quantitative Methods and i finished my take-home examination for Social Theory. It was assigned last Wednesday and we were to do 4/6 questions. I also worked alot this weekend, we have a new popcorn machine in our Greenwood location and our boss was really mad at me on Saturday for not cleaning it properly the night before...excuse me for caring oh so much after such a virant week of being in nothing but the Vaughn... Anyways i recieved my Christmas schedule for work to the start of January and well...my hrs are not all that darn awesome, it is cause we have a staff of i dunno...a zillion people right now, but i just cannot go and take away hrs of people who have been working while i have been at Acadia.... hopefully people will want to go to Christmas parties and stuff and i will recieve some extra shifts.... Actually went out to the local bar last nite with a former co-worker of mine, it was...ummm...interesting to say the very least, it has a unique clientele..some ladies wearing shirts and tights that they should not be...i say if i can't wear it and make it look good on my fat ass, then honey bunny, you can't wear it....there was one honey in particular that was really cute, but man she was aiming for the stars...probably for the Junkyard Dog's twin brother that i saw there shaking his thang to the oldies.... Some bald dudes who were up dancing, alot with the Kim Mitchell look, as David Spade said on SNL, "It don't matter what is happening in the back, what matter's is what's on top...bald is in boys!!!" My old man says it's a "Solar panel for a sex machine" Either way, when mine does go, i am not going to try to hang on to days of old. Anyways what else, um there was an old couple making out on the dance floor, lots of real...real...real...captial S S***tty dance music being played..sounded like 70s porno music for S*** sakes..., i think the guy seated next to us sang in a Vanilla Ice tribute band or something...it was FOUR BUCKS A BEER!!!! What the F***!!! No wonder i never go to this joint, my hometown bars...last time i was to our other establishment i got into a damn scrap back in the summer of 1996 and last night...ummm i see why people rent alot of videos, even though i find it to be a waste of a Friday and or a Saturday night, i mean if i did not work there, i would not be there...even though i have a rockin group of co-workers...and yes i was in a scrap wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in 1996 with some loser with another bad Kim Mitchell hairdo, he pushed me, he punched me first...ummm...i ended it...never saw him again...he had alot of the Mitchell hair to hang onto also....frickin out of towners...never learn eh? The greatest Cdn was on tonight on CBC...poor Bret Hart looks bad lately, i hope he is ok. The ex-bass player for Hole was really annoying, she was representing David Suzuki and came off as a real B**** to the other representatives. The Balls of the night award went to the lady whom i can't remember her name that put down Lester B Pearson and looked at the Cdn flagg and exclaimed, "It's just a damn flag!" Did anybody else hear that damn room of BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Man i miss the Middleton movie theatre, my beloved former theatre known as "The Capital" The first movie i ever saw there was "Problem Child" back in the summer of 1990. It was a grand movie theatre, complete with a balcony and $3 cheap nights and the occasional $2 matinee as late as 1995. All kinds of music acts played there, Christmas concerts etc etc.....anywho, this out of towner comes to town in 1996, buys the theatre and proceeds to rip out the stage, the balcony and split the cinema into TWO screens!!! Well, needless to say a year and a half later, the CLOSED sign was on the theatre door and the windows were nailed shut....plus this damn wormslime gets to go to Bridgewater, pull some of the same stunts and volia!!!! Their theatre is toast as well...here's to the Drive-in, located at Coldbrook and the about to re-open Acadia Cinema for keeping old school moviegoing alive! No small screen, in-door bullstuff there lemmie tell ya.... Hey! The Axemen are on a 3 game streak! Two wins and a tie, i wish wish wish i didn't have to work on Friday and Saturday so i could have gone to the Acadia Arena and witness in person the games between us, Dal and SMU...beating SMU last night would have ruled...and i guess since i am on the topic of university sport, congrats to Laval for winning the Vanier on Sat, i watched for a bit in-between doing homework in the dungeon and eating some le din din dde Kraft...nice to see the game out of the Skydome and somewhere else for a change, i think they should move it to random colleges and universities, ones with a football programme, just ot give all a shot at watching a game, instead of having it go back to the big, empty, lifeless, corportate run- S***dome every year, that place does not even give off the feel of a college game...why is there no tailgating parties at Raymond Field anyways? Jeesh...no booze sold at games and this? C'mon, it is not the senior citizen league...does MarrROT have to just ruin everything?! I mean, let's be a college...gotta fix the rep gang. Anyways this is enough ranting and raving for me for one night so be well and grab a Colt and a smiley smile....lates.

Simple Disobedience

How y' all doing? Man i am finally finished my British-India report for Seminar and my Participant Observation report for Qualitative Methods. I finished British-India last night at 10:30 while watching the Grey Cup out of the corner of me eye. Man, this means i am basically done two of my four classes, i have to present what i found in Qualitative methods and Seminar is done except for other people's presentations. I had to borrow twenty bucks from work just to make it back to Wolfville this week, i am bad with money, i blew alot of it me first term. I dunno, it seems like having a good time is a priority, but yet i have always (at least in the Acadia yrs) managed to be able to have my work done on time. I talked to my Qualitative prof this morning and she was ok with the fact that my report is now twelve pages instead of ten. She told me that peoplpe were messaging her looking for extensions to their papers...what the F**K is wrong with people? Extensions? Good mother of all mankind you have had since October to finish a 10 page report...a 10 pager?!?!?!? Man that is something that maybe, with prior research, could dbe done in a weekend, maybe three to four days....some people. Man it is 31 days exactly until Merry X-mas...actually when speaking to an ex this weekend, she mentioned that the first porn she had ever seen in her life was at my parents basement back in 1991! 1991! Man that is a liffetime ago! It was a porno called Merry XXX mas! and it featured a midget as a perverted elf! Who needs Will Farrell when you have midgets?!?!?! This flick was 10 times as comical as Elf would ever want to be. The Hockey Axemen lost again on Friday night, this time at the elegant Forum in Halifax to SMU. Man, if i can go back before 1991, back to 1987...it was June of 1987 that i went along with me buddies to the very first WWF card in Halifax at the Halifax Forum, the main event was Randy "Macho Man" Savage vs The Huckster...i mean the Hulkster, Hulk Hogan...the place was sold out...i mean sold out! They even sold all of the standing room tickets and scalpers were outside having a field day! It would take another sixteen yrs for the Hulkster to return to Halifax, i was there again...but the nostalgia of the summer of 87 was missing somewhat...a friend of mine, when i conversed with him in September remembered Macho Man flipping out in the dressing room area and grabbing some poor fan because the guy flipped him the bird or said something to Elizabeth (Macho's manager) Ahhh...the old days. Anyways, i have to get a movin on me Quanatative Methods paper, it is an analytical bibliography and while i have the notes, i need to put them in order...so if i can get a crackin this afternoon on it, i will be quite ahead of the game...plus our take-home examination for Social Theory is being distributed on Wednesday...people are already e-mailing me for the notes...i will help them out, becuase for some strange reason after all of these years, i am still Mr Nice Guy...i dunno why...but i am...but if they are paying to go here, i mean...we do pay through the nose to come here, then at least go to class, i at least sobered up enough to attend classes, most of the time...but c'mon, these are the prime years of yer life you are wasting by laying in bed and being sick from drinking yer guts up the night before...spending the entire night on MSN and ICQ is not an excuse for missing class...profs don't buy that one much...and if you are going to waste time, why not stay at home and i dunno, work at CO-OP or Petro Can...or something like that instead of taking up a bedroom in residence that could be home to a good student. I knew or sadly knew a guy in res that had a room...in reality he should have taken his ass and went home at Christmas time...i dunno if he was stupid or if it was part of an act, but dammit all he wanted to do was bully smaller students, knock on doors at 3 Am in the morning and generally pull down the spirit of the floor...i remember one of the students wanted to give him a floor award that said, "I'm Fat, Lazy and Stupid", but it was disallowed...plus he whined about everything, would play jokes on people, but flip when someone played one on him, never share his booze, but yet be there for a F***in handout whenever someone else had one, was a complete follower, had an average i think of 0.0, never went to class, andd committed the cardinal sin of trying to tell his elder students of how to run their lives......he should be a poster boy for Dumbasses Anonymous or something like that...plus he gave me the finger everytime i turned around, because he had nothing else original to say, nothing to add to our floor...i wished for him to walk off a plank or something...mean to wish S*** on other people, but man...stay home, we all need gas station attendants to swipe debit cards or take my $20 for gas in the morning...i know i ranted in earlier blogs about white collar taking over univiersities, but man if blue collar students want to still have a spot, then start giving IQ tests to incoming students or something. Ok...enough ranting, i am off to eat me Hamburger Helper and immerse myself in some textbooks, then i am going to pick up Richie from work, eat more Helper and stay in the Vaughn until i deem that i can leave...anyways webslingers lates!

The Halifax Forum (w/ Santa) This historic arena is where i witnessed many an AHL, junior and university hockey game, the legendary "Grand Prix Wrestling" promotion with illuminaries like Leo Burke, the Cuban Assassin and my favorite of all time, "Killer" Karl Krupp. Me and my old buddies from Eastern Passage would visit the Forum at least once a month in the late 80s to early 90s to see our WWF (not WWE...lame Vince..lame) heroes like Randy Savage, Roddy Piper and Jake "The Drunk...i mean Snake" Roberts...old times never to be forgotten eh?

Confusion, Illusion, a Misinterpretation, of the Original Me

Hey Ho naysayers! Lots of stuff ...well not really, but man...i think i have my British-India 24 page disaster almost finished, my Qualitative Methods- Participant Observation Paper is almost done and so this will leave my Quantitative Methods paper/ Annotated bibliography for all of next week and my takehome examination for Social Theory. Whew! Was that a load or what? Not much else, took the dogs for their haircut today, they haven't recieved a trim since September, it is the first time i have ever seen Maggie's face! My brother thinks she is ugly, but we are all subject to our own opinions. I remember a girl, one who stood me up twice actually once told me who am i to judge beauty? Then five minutes later i commented to her about a girl i was interested in and she replied, "Ugh! She is butt ugly!" Or something amongst those lines....The remaining question is how could old Robbo let himself get stood up twice by the same girl? You should have seen the guy she stood me up for! Another member of the George Steele/ Meatloaf fan club...i am talking homely...ladies i know i am not hot...but am i that bad? I worked Friday night 6-11 and tonight or well SAturday night from 6-12 with an afternoon shift tomorrow in Greenwood...then it is seriously back to the Vaughn to print out and wrap up these two reports that i have spent countless hours on and i am sick to death of doing...I hope British-India will be ok...The boys from 2nd Floor Harper, actually my monitor from last yr, Chris e-mailed me asking me when am i going to visit? Well...boys i would like to...if i had the bucks, maybe they should take up a collection and send me a bus ticket, or something...i have vented about Mount A now for awhile, about there lack of meal hall hours on the weekend, coffee shop closures at 4 pm, campus bar that only opens at 9 at night and all the rest, but strangely i would like to visit, there is a part of me that enjoyed the goings-ons at Harper, i miss the gang. It is too bad the Campus D****bag (needs one of These!) at Acadia missed his chance to save face, what better way would the start of the year have been than to interview someone who has been at 2 of the top three schools in this country? It was a gimmie gimmie gimmie story that he missed the boat on! Talk about your choke! Buffalo Bills be damned!
Anyways i am off to bed, you kids have a good one....and don't forget to hoochie poochie!

I Haven't Got The Time....

Hello webslingers, hoosers and other life forms. Well...i did my speech yesterday on British and India Imperialism, it lasted a good twenty-five minutes and i think i did well, this was a wee bit of a different assignment because my classmates mark me, instead of the prof, so it should be interesting to see how i did, i wore my suitjacket and pants with a new turtleneck, one sweetie told me that i looked, "Dashing". I was at the library last night till almost 2:00, i have now completed 17/24 pages for my Seminar paper. Also, i finished the textbook for my social theory class, something in my professional college career that i have never done before! Actually, yesterday could have been a lot worse than it was, on Wednesday i grabbed the wrong suit jacket and pants for my presentation and had to drive all the way back to Middleton, a good 45 minute drive to retrieve them, the worst thing about this is that is put my budget for the week out of whack because i have the rent money put aside and i am trying to have some Christmas money put aside for myself, i have only myself to blame i guess. Also on the way back i ran into my Qualitative methods prof whose class i skipped to go home and get me suit and she was totally unimpressed with me missing her class, her TA taught it i guess, but she did complement me on having a nice suit...A girl from my Seminar class was trying to play matchmaker and set me up on a date with a girl who never had one before, i politely declined, now hear me out naysayers, i have nothing against the girl, it is just that well...i can be picky, and by that i do not mean that my dates all have to look like supermodels, it is just that there has to be that certain something, i do not know what it is.....is it looks? It is a standing glare? A nice smile? Confidence? There is something that has to attract me...i can be quite the A**hole when it comes to relationships...god knows i have destroyed a great many of them, ones that happened and potential ones...well...alot of the former buffoons helped as well, i cannto take all of the damn credit. Well, i am now home in this raging metropolis of Middleton and i have to wrok tonight down at the Andrews from 6:00-11:00, tomorrow in Greenwood from 6:00-12:00 and the 3 hr short shift in Greenwood on Sunday from 1:00-4:00. Anyways i has to try and complete some of me damn homework, so in the meantime an in between time, till later this is Rockin Rob signing off.

Empty Experience

Long time no blog! Well naysayers, i am back and in Perkins working on homework like you do not beleive! For those out of towners, NS was hit with a power outage the likes of which i have never seen and we were without power for a good day and a half in Middleton. It was like a state of emergency in the old hometown, people were lined up at the two gas stations like a mile down the road, Needs was jammed with people and so was the local CO-OP. People's moods were changing from being ok with all of this to well..pretty snarly by Monday. ...we were lucky to have a wood stove, a kerosene heater...i had filled up the Jeep on Friday and stocked up on groceries on the same day...my brother made me nearly hit the ceiling when i was wondering about school and had phoned my old advisor to find out about Tuesday, he said " Why the F*** are you thinking about school now? Who cares? ...well D***head...i care! I have spent more money (well not really my money) going to Acadia and Mount Allison than you will earn in the next 20 years, i care because it is my future, or whatever the hell i have left of a future if i cannot make the grade...so shut the hell up...ok enough ranting about that...Oh...i had to work on Monday night in Greenwood, from 4:00-9:00, but we only had half our power and no computer, i feel bad for my manager as she had to enter everything into the computer that we had written down and our ice cream has all but melted in the Greenwood store and i think it has to be disposed of. The Middleton store managed to save their ice cream. Classes resumed today and my 45 minute presentation in Seminar on British-India has been edited down to 30 minutes, this means i will have to throw out some of the stuff i was going to present, so that means i will chat for 15 minutes and then ask questions for another 15 minutes, so that is not so darn bad. While waiting for my yearly flu-shot in Greenwood on Saturday, i read the Macleans Annual University Rankings, again we came in 3rd, behind STFX and Mount Allison. Well, i have never attended STFX, i have an ex who lived in a residence that was ran by nuns and would not let males (even people's Dad's) into the dorm rooms and had a one hour visitation time on Sunday's...yay! Let's all head back to the middle ages! I hope it has gone co-ed! As far as Mount Allison is concerned, well i agree with their ranking over Acadia as far as extra-curricular goes, Mount A had a way of making people feel more welcome than Acadia does, Acadia can be a cold place, the rich and the poor do not work well together, we have a lot more brown-nosers here (AKA...Campus Douchebag...) and like i have stated before, if you are a frosh and 18 and single, then get used to alot of lonley nights sitting in residence, becuase i used to remember hanging out with the kids in the lounge and then once 8:50 or so hit, it was down to the Axe or the Vil and they were left to hold the bag basically, no cable in their rooms...i remember us splicing the cable my 4th year, we had paid enough to come here, or so we thought and we basically decided that we deserved a little extra, i mean we were dying eating Marriots or mari-ROT as many called it...yummm...dreams of tator-tot casserole and spinich turnovers! Anyways we lost the Acadia Theatre in 2000 (although it is re-opening) Radio Acadia died in 2001-02...we just started to run out of things to do and last year at Mount Allison, i was welcomed into the fold by the people at res, i mean i was welcomed in at Tower, but once Frosh week in 98 was over, so was the smiling faces from frosh leaders, the old gang on 3rd was treated as if they were an alien species (blue collar) At Mount Allison we had the open liquor policy, cable in rooms, CHMA - who also was featured prominently in the magazine, one of the best college-radio stations in Canada. However, Mount Allison does not have some 4,000 laptops to purchase and has therefore has the budget to have concerts and other suprises for students, like the residence party my old res Harper had last January, i mean could you imagine them doing that here? Selling tickets and it is enforced by security, it was fun! There are downturns though, having cable in your room can lead to less floor unity, sitting around in the lounge on a snowy Saturday with your buds watching football and some crappy b-movie like Sleepaway Camp or something, playing games like table-top hockey and having a few wobblepops, but on the other hand, having cable in your room stops fights over the stupid television, we had one guy that we should have called Mr Spock one year because all he did was watch science-fiction shows and hog the lounge, along with the guy whose entire in-bred family lived in our res, who hogged the lounge watching MY VCR! Every year brought a new TV lounge hogger...go to F***ing class losers! Ever notice that alot of the lounge hoggers flunked out? Or that their tv shows of choice sucked worse than anything that came before it had ever sucked? We called Mr Spock the captain of the USS CRAPPY TELEVISION!!! Babylon 5 and Jag...uggh that boy watched really really S***tty tv. The one thing, in my opinion only, that Acadia has over Mount A is the classroom experience, i found my profs at Mount Allison to be cold, uncaring and looked like they were just there to get a check and like the Flintstones, punch out at 4:30 on Friday afternoons, now i am told that they have a great science program up there, but i am not a scientist, so i do not know, i remember e-mailing profs at Mount A and it always came off as if i was bugging them on their personal time, especially the lead A**hole...you know who you are! I never seen anyone hide behind the system like this guy....and i really do miss most of the guys and girls in Res up at Mount Allison, you made me feel welcome and wanted, but now that i am back at where i feel comfy, back at old Acadia U, i feel better. I do have to touch on the Football Axemen's loss on Saturday to SMU, i feel for the seniors, last time playing for the ol' red and white...at least nobody dumped horse manure on your front lawn on Sunday, there is always next year. I did see a blog about a girl i liked many years ago, we stopped talking due to the fact i moved away, she believed some silly made-up rumors about me and we were both really immature at the time, i am happy for her i guess she recently married and still seems to look pretty and very happy, i do not feel the need to drop her a line as we have both moved on with our lives, again she looks happy and i am mostly happy with my life as a professional student. My Mom always bugs me about being single, but i am happy this way, no heartbreak...i won't have no more of it....anyways enough blogging smogging for today, i have a presentation to brush up on for tomorrow's seminar class, i have just got to finish up those two major term papers for the 23rd, pick up Richie at 4:30, eat my fabulous TV dinner for supper and then down for a date with the Vaughn Library till ummm...closing time...should be a real wingdinger so i shall chitty chat...bitch about life later on.

Marks, Ruminations and Other Stuff...

Hello there fellow Axemen, Axewomen, non-Axemen...whatever the F**K ya are. Well, after a few days abscence because of nothing but a steady rash of homework and working on assignment after assignment and other stuff, i have recieved some marks back! Well, first i recieved my midterm/ final examination mark back for Qualitative Methods and i made 85%!!!!?!?!?!?!?!!? WOW! Holy S**T!!!! Just when i thought that i was washed up, couldn't hang with the big boys anymore...that i should retire...well...here comes a mark that made me eyes roll out of me head!!! Then i recieved some of my marks back for my Discussion Questions and i made 95%!!! I was on fire this morning!!! Then i had my Seminar class at 12:00, just a short class today as i made 75% on my British-India project proposal! These marks today add up to a combined 85%! A mark of A...why am i not as impressed as i could be? Well, the Seminar one is worth 10% of my mark, but it is the first marks from that class, especially when me prof tells the class that the proposals were no where as good as they could be. I have to do an extra assignment for Qualitative Methods with, in my non-professional opinion, an absolute hottie...a red head. What could make a girl hot to me? Well, i kinda do like red heads...although it is usually not their hair that i am after...actually ol' Robbo likes a NICE GIRL...did everybody read that now? The girl has to be NICE ...and i do not mean boobs and bums and all that stuff, just have a good personality. I have made mistakes in the past, but anybody want to know a coicidence? Two of the girls that i had the unfortunate memory of dating were single child's...AKA, the only damn kid in their fammily, which also usually means that they have been recieving everything on a silver platter, are spoiled and have an EGO that flies all the way to the moon, i mean look at it, there are no siblings to be in competition with, and don't mention stuff like cousins, i mean them you can send away at the end of the day with their parents. One girl back in high school i remember to this day, spoiled rotten and leave it to lovesick ol' Robbo to fall for her..hard...anyways we went out for awhile and then she dumped me for a guy who looked like Meatloaf, who fancied himself as a rock star and could not get out of the 10th grade, people tease me about my lack of academic prowless in high school, but hey...i graduated and then went on to do alot of post-secondary education, anyways the next year she found out that almost all of her friends were my friends and it was just her and Meatloaf and all the food she could consume, i mean...she put on weight....ok, so i am not exactly anorexic, but damn...they usually do not remain whatever the hell it was the you were interested in in the first place! Fast forward to my years in the Tower and there was this girl i got together with shortly after Frosh Week...well...she had no friends during frosh week and had next to no friends after we broke up...Her and me high school no-so Miss Cool had alot in common, only child's, spoiled, and with enough pretend-luggage that Jerry Springer would probably kick them off the set! They always did the hard done-by routine that a younger and much stupider Robbo always fell for...then they went out with absolute LOSERS afterwards and i do mean LOSERS! I think Meatloaf sweeps the floors at a Taco Bell somewhere and George Steele is well...probably being a loser somewhere...we named the Acadia sweetie Moolah, because after first year...well, she looked like the Fabulous Moolah!!!!! (Thanks El Blinnico!!!) Well because of the Fabulous one....well Floor Awards became a treat for the next four years, the legend spread to two universities, the boys wrote and played songs about her and now when i do visit Tower, kids ask me about Moolah! Kids! These fellas were in grade seven during the forgettable affair! UGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH!!! Anyways, wow...what a rant eh? Anyways, my partner for Qualitative is a real cutie and is a really nice person, but probably has a boyfriend and is probably majorly UNAVAILABLE!!!! The real sweet nice ones are always UNAVAILABLE!!!! Anways i am going out for a walk, i am in Perkins and have been here since class was over early at 12:15, you all have a good one, i'll stop playing Ann Flanders for now....

High Five Anxiety

Hello there webslingers and webslingerettes...whatever...anyways it is me coming again from the burning metropolis of Middleton where i have worked all weekend at les store and completed homework assignment after assignment. Actually none of my biggie three assignments are completed, but i am still working on em. On the 18th i have to present my British Imperialism in India Paper to my seminar class, i have to teach for about forty minutes and i hope i do not mess it up, just remember the basics that Imperial rule in India became a traditional form of militaristic and despotic imperial state, a form of military fiscalism; it depended on traditional peasants and aristocracies to generate revenue and that British strategy was blamed for reversing India’s economic and social development by entrenching and creating, archaic forms of landlord-peasant relations. Ok, make sense of that eh? My other papers seem to be flailing along, i am still single, no women to speak of...The Football Axemen dropped STFX 15-8 at Raymond Field yesterday, i wish i could have been there, but watching on Eastlink in the basement, surrounded by homework and textbooks had to suffice. I still have no idea who won SAturday nights Hockey game in PEI, but i do know the Friday night score... :(
Oh well...another week of school, no classes due to Rememberance Day, me Mommie's B-day and then home again, payday and then the whole thing starts again...just one big ol' cycle. Anyways, it is again a quiet day with not too much to report...ohh except for this little ol' teaser trailer of probably the biggest movie this summer...until then..party hard...or something.

Have You Ever Seen The Rain? Ummmm..Duhhh

Hello there webslingers! The Football Axemen are currently leading STFX 1-0 at Raymond Field and the winner advances to play a well-rested SMU next week...i wish SMU had to play someone today to even things up a bit instead of like having the week off and stuff. I am right heads over foot with the ol' homework today, more British Imperialism in India stuff, where the Brits took over well...everything and left India kind of holding the bag. I have to work at 6:00 in Middleton tonight, i worked last night till 12:00 midnight and man, all people could say, ""Shrek 2! Shrek 2!" Jeesh...you materialistic people, get a life! I mean i would have a life if i wasn't such an old professional university student. Another girl smiled at me the other day, she had pink hair...she was sitting in Perkins and ripped out two big smiles at me...maybe she felt sorry for me or something...i dunno...kinda bummed out doing all this homework, looking at the rain and then back at the Axemen on the tube...Anyways, it is some good ol' Chinese Food in the George and then off to work...short blog today, short blog....anyways adios amigos!

I Am Here..Can You Hear Me?

Well truebelivers it has been awhile...i have been busy being single ....very ...very single and doing lots and lots and lots of homework. I completed my proposal for my Seminar about British Imperialism in India, a matter of fact i handed it in this afternoon and i have to present it to me class on the 18th and hand it in on the 23rd..a 24 page term paper! Yikes! Then again i know someone who is doing a 75 page thesis on Jessie Jackson! That's right! Jessie F'n Jackson! I started my annotated bibilography for my methods class and my participant observation paper for Qualitative Methods. All of these papers are still in the primitive stages, once i find that motivation that i am looking for, they will then proceed. Bush was relelected...suprised anyone? I wonder how many Philly Steak and Cheeses Micheal Moore is eating right now? Poor Kerry...man he was boring...Man, i am really bushed this afternoon..just no motivation at all..and that sucks cause this time of the school year, you need motivation to complete all of these inane projects! I even brought an extra Michelina thing today because i thought the motivation to get cracking would happen...it has not happened yet i am afriad...plus i have to work Friday and Sunday in Greenwood and Saturday night in Middleton...i wonder what new Hollywood indoor bullstuff will people be fudging their pants to get their mits on this week? See what a dedicated employee i am? I do not have a fricking clue as to what this weeks new releases are! I think i am gonna have to ask me Momma for a loan on some dollars this weekend cause i am broker than broke! A girl smiled at me yesterday...i think she was smiling at the guy behind me...man us fatty boys never seem to win eh? I once had a friend who commented that, "You got to have the gut to strut!" Well...i am not strutting...maybe that is what i need, if you want to get something done in this world, throw someone a bone...dangle a carrot in front of their face, maybe if my profs had some hot girls for me to purchase, i would find the inspiration to do these crazy assignments...if i do these three assignments, the term will pretty mucch be over, i have one examination...just one exam!!! And i amm done and then it is the crazy commercialized season called Christmas...my Mom does not know what to buy me..i do not know if Sister Sarah's sells blow-up dolls or not...ok...i am just kidding! Ah, the day i will get a clue eh? Man TSN is broadcasting old hockey games now...some say it is desperate, i like to look at the game before millionares, helmets, before the insitigator rules, before the Soviet Union fell apart...when there were mullets and bench clearing brawls...fights..fights...fights...Don Cherry was coaching...sigh...ok i am going now...to dream of old flames...i mean do some homework and stuff...later gators...

October's Over

Good afternoon cool dudes and foxy ladies! Ahh, only one class today and it is done like dinner. Now i can concentrate on me midterm in Qualitative Methods for tomorrow and my seminar proposal for Thursday. Actually i have been writing the proposal, which is about British India Rule since class ended at 11:30, it is almost done, i just need to build up the bibliography somewhat and then press print and pick up down at the Vaughn. We only have five brat...i mean children come to the house last night, i worked from 4-10:00 down at the store and it was DEAD! So i worked on homework, in addition to saying no, the flavor of the week is not in. What do i mean by that? Oh, just the movie that came out on Tuesday (new release day) and people just piss themselves to get ahold of it...don't they know that in two weeks time that movie will just be sitting there collecting dust because some other, probable piece of S*** will be out. Shaun of the Dead is finally in New Minas, i am excited because both that and Napoleon Dynomite will be showing up at the store in December. Man i read last night until 1:00 and my prof was right, Social theory is full of boring old guys. Max Weber went crazy in the end of his life and i almost did reading some 40-45 pages of babble. Oh well..hope i did not upset any Weberians! (losers...) The Dunker was just here and had lunch and we did some serious giggling at a WHA tribute page (nice mullets boys!) Anyways, i have to pick up Richie today at 4:30 (It's collection time!) and then back to probably here and the Vaughn to do some serious cramming before me middterm tomorrow! Later on and don't vote tomorrow...smash the state!

Confined Angry Nerd

Hello true belivers! Yep i did not make it to the Axe tonight, a lack of funds, plus taking Saturday off a few weeks ago to go to Homecoming put a dent in tonights plans, so i worked from 10-6 in Middleton and just simply came home and did homework, i worked read about Argentina and citizen uprisings for my Seminar Class. Plus i was really disappointed with the advertising for the festivities for the Axe and the McKeen Room for tonight, i think it was cool to have posters with the ONLY Batman, Sir Adam West, but then in SMALL print at the bottom, no full-facial masks allowed!!!!!?????!?!?!?! Sorry old chum, but i worked on me outfit fer a while and i was a little down and pissy...i mean, hell this CORPORATE bull**** i see everywhere is getting to me, this again, attitude....i dunno, i sometimes feel like this is NOT my Acadia anymore, man i am starting to think that i left behind a good bunch of guys & gals at Mount A, sure i thought the teaching sucked, well for my classes anyways, as long as Sir Limp D*** is in charge and he will be until he retires at the age of 100,000 and i missed the Acadia Advantage...well...the Dells also SUCK OUT LOUD!!! But if not for the classes themselves and probably a move to the basement to get somemore study time in, i am sorry but i think i would have stayed, but with mr Vader refusing to let someone lemmie see, approachable, non-boring, geuine, look out for others best interests instead of his own...ugh! Could go on and on, i dunno why KFC didn't hire this donkyhonker to be there new spokesperson with the poor Col being dead now for some 20 yrs, man those in charge of PETA would run from the sight of this old PruneF***er.....anyways in other news, I recieved my Theory midterm back on Friday and made a B, not too shabby, but man i think i am turning greedy eh? I remember back in the day, if i gots a C, i jumped up and down, grabbed a bottle of something and through a party! Nope, i am now having delusions of something, thinking i am a legitimate good student or something, which in reality is something that i do not think that i am. I really have to work at studying and writing papers, i have even taken papers i thought were going to be decent and chucked them into the trash thinking that they were complete and utter crap. How's about the Football Axemen getting that big victory on Friday night? Hooray! About time SMU lost, and lost at home, i have alot of respect for success, but man, even the great ones have to lose sometime...ok, nothing is as bad as Buckner and the ball between his legs, or Steve Smith shooting the puck in his own net...ouch...A busy week coming up, i have my midterm in Qualitative Methods on Tuesday morning and i have to hand in a 3 page outline for my Seminar Class on Thursday, i hope my British Imperialism in India paper goes well...man i have never been this broke, i honestly was emptying me Montreal Canadiens piggybank this week, i guess i am still S***ty at handling money after all of these yrs, thank God i have a job! Anyways, lets call it a night boys and girls, hope the beers are still flowing at the MASKLESS Axe and hope the Axemen are still celebrating their victory...i am off to bed to dream of ummmm...whoever...i do like the lyrics of a song by the Ataris called, "That Special Girl"
"I need a girl who like to go to shows
I need a girl that won't make fun of my clothes.
i'm looking for a special girl who wants to go all over the world, if you're my special girl won't you let me know?
Do you have a boyfriend? or possibly a girlfriend? cause! i'm lonely all the time and i wish that it would end.
I need a girl that likes to stay out late, we'd share a cocktail, wouldn't it be great? if only this were true then i would fall in love with you,
I'm looking for a special girl... could it be you? i could write a stupid love song, and sing it all across the world but it wouldn't mean a thing. until i find my special girl. when will i find my special girl?"
Good tune...night boys and girls...

Almost Time For a Bender

Another just glorious Wednesday eh? I recieved me Reseach and Methodology Midterm back last night...not exactly the mark i wanted...matter of fact, i was downright pissy aboot it...did alot of jumping up and down and wanted to FREAK!!! ...ok i am fine now...maybe..i mean i'll take it....all i have to say is THANK GOD we have the analytical bibliography assignment to do, i would be Up The Creek! Well it is closer to the weekend..can't wait for Saturday...anybody else getting dressed up? i am invited over to Richie's...but i know that the AXE is calling my name... I completed my Qualitative Assignment #3 last night at the Vaughn, i was there till about 12 last night. Man, another midterm next week, thankfully, tonight the question for the midterm was put online, so hopefully all will be good. I have a Pizza-Pizza date tomorrow with my buddy Lindy at 4:00...hot supper date to the SUB! Man i have alot of work to be done, my proposal for Seminar, more and more homework all of the time! Acutally i have been listening to my favorite song that i played on CHMA last year by the now-defunct Canadian band, "Punchbuggy" and it is called, "The Great Divide" it actually is a great song that summed up alot of my feelings about last year, decipher the the lyrics and you shall find the truth. Anyways lots to do, so everyone go have a Colt and a Smile! Lates...rock on! ....and do your homework...or else!

Little Things...Due Dates and other Stuff...

Hello! Another day in the lovely SUB, lots of stuff happening, got a 5 page paper due on Thursday for Qualitative Methods that i forgot ALL about, trying to finish my chapter on Qualitative & Quanitative Methods for my Research & Methodology Class tonight and as well as changing my topic around for my Seminar Class, i am now doing British Imperialism in India as my BIG paper (24 pages....yikes!!!) At least i now have a topic that is both historic and relevant to the classroom material. So i spent my night at the Vaughn Library from roughly 5:00 last night to just over 10:00 doing my three page proposal for class. Then i went back to Kentville and fell asleep watching WWE RAW...it sure isn't like it was in the old days...some six or seven years ago...if that can be referred to as old days, then again i am old...kinda quiet here at the SUB, well at Perkins it is anyways, if i had a phone...i would be soundboarding like you would not believe! My presentation on Cod went ok, we had to present on Left and Right Wing politics and that true believers is a tough old topic...somehow it got onto the topic of mailorder brides...from Russia! Plus it is very confusing with the definitions and stuff...George W Bush- should be Far Right, but yet is tagged as conservative and Tony Blair and Bill Clinton were tagged as being “Centre-Left”- even though they slashed welfare programs and promoted financial speculation. I guess Right Policies include privatization of public enterprises, cutbacks in public sector services, weakening of the labor unions, undermining of job security and social welfare and support for past and future imperial wars, while Left politics is the traditional terminology used to describe the two ideological poles of a political spectrum in a society, especially in a democracy. Wheww...that was a toughie! Anyways this is so not getting my homework done, so to a few hrs of homework i go and then to go home, make supper and then back for me night class and then tomorrow...just one class.....listen to my new favorite song on the way home...it is by a group called Woolworthy and it is titled, "Wallflower", actually the tune is about two years old, but it sums up the feelings and angst felt by us guys (well...me) who think we are never going to have another girlfriend...later gators and don't forget to study.

Halfway to Sanity

Good day true believers! Man this weekend was work...work ...work, both at the job and with the school work as well. Well, the Red Sox are leading 2-0, i do not care, my Yanks are gone (Insert insult here!) The Axemen split in NB this weekend and well...more work...work...work. I am trying to do several projects at once, my American-British Imperialism paper for Seminar, my participant observation for Qualitative Methods, waiting for my two midterms to come back...ugh! At work on Saturday the phones were not working, our store is about 10,000 yrs old (Middleton location) and well..it needs work. Anyways, the phone lines severed and MT & T were only going today to fix the problem, this means we will have a late list that is out of this universe! I hate the late list, if you cannot bring it back on time...DO NOT rent the F***ing movie! That is my feeling on that topic...plus i had to kick a bunch of goofy kids off the steps on Saturday night...why do people sit out there? Somebody told me that it gives a good view of the downtown area, but so does the bench out in front of the Save Easy. They moved the picnic tables out from in front of our Tim Hortons the other summer because all of the townies were sitting there and drinking/ litering/ loitering all night...and day. It was peaceful though with no phone, but the Interact was out and peolpe were FREAKING out....more complaints than the debate between FOOLSCREEN and WIDESCREEN!!! i cannot remember who said it, but anybody who wants to watch their favorite movies with the sides hacked off should have their licence to operate a DVD player revoked....Lives are over, can't dig $4.50 out of the pocket...but dammit we got these stupid cards...they use em to buy chocate bars, Pepsi, ice cream...ugh! Anyways my first class is over with...actually it was my only class of the day...i don't think my prof has marked my paper yet...he was wayyyyyyyy too happy. I have to pick up Richie from work at 4:30 and then i have to meet with my partners for my presentation on Cod tomorrow in Seminar Class and then the library...the overheated library for more and more and more homework...my mommy bought me one of those cooler/ lunchboxes so i don't have to drive back to Kentville just to eat...technology eh? Anyways, hockey is still on strike and i has to do some work is i wanna party this weekend...later gators!

Smile...im in Middleton

Hello true believers and naysayers! Just a Saturday afternoon full of good o' homework and well...shopping at the Price Chomper and stuff, actually quite proud of myself over getting alot of homework done, especially after those two midterms last week that were ummmmmmm....scary....Speaking of scary, Halloween is this week!!! Now i can lay the rumor to rest that i WILL be at the AXE HALLOWEEN PARTY on Saturday, October 30th...maybe around 10:00...10:30 in Newfoundland...i have a class presentation on Newfoundland for my Seminar class on Tuesday, actually it is on the collapse of the cod industry, it is with two other people so it should be ok. I was working on my qualitative methods this morning, actually doing some field research in Middleton, but i shall not reveal the results of this work until later on...by the way...Brian Wilson hit #13 on the Billboard Album Charts with his re-working of the album, SMILE....Betcha this speeds up work on that eventual, much ballyhooed MIKE LOVE SOLO ALBUM!!!! hahahahahaha...i mean MIKE MONEY...i mean LOVE...does anybody know the score of the Football Axemen/ Shearbrooke game being played today in Quebec? The Hockey Axemen pulled out a 5-4 victory over U de M last night...i am taking my 1970s transistor radio to work tonight to listen to the other stop on the NB tour as they are playing UNB at 7:30 tonight...oh well...got a recipie today for DEEP FRIED OREOS! Don't ask, i guess these things are all the rage at the State Fairs this year. Man who is this Georg Simmel guy i am studying anyways? ZZZZZZZZ...i mean it is interesting...or something...i think i saw a girl checking me out today, maybe...probably just my imagination playing tricks on me sad head, anyways...me supper is ready....Bangers & Mash tonight! Hot Times in the Maritimes Daddy! Whoooooooooooooo! Lates!

Wednesday, October 20, 2004

Well...it is getting closer to the weekend...somewhat...

Well hello there true believers! Man ...that midterm SUCKED!!! I think if i make a C...i am lucky...maybe i just hallucinating or something...hopefully, cause all of these other people found it easy. Man i am a professional university student, i should be able to do good at 2nd yr classes, not sit there halfway through it scratching my head. Anyways, it is over, done with and well...it was worth 30% so that is somewhat hard to swallow, but i have the annotated bibliography, which is to be done with sociological abstracts assignment to do, so that is where i shall try and make up the points. Man is there to be no Radio Station here or what? I haven't heard a word back from anybody despite leaving an e-mail address, contact, phone with whoever the hell is in charge upstairs!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! Typcial eh? The one thing that Acadia has never, in my time here, has ever been able to get right is a college radio station, we have the advancements, we have the laptops, wired classrooms, but no station....what a crock of S***! Oh...by the way i joined "Thunacme: The Unofficial Acadia Messageboard" last night (thanx to Lovely Linsay) It was fun and i did a few posts last night, look for me as Old Acadia on there. Man it did bring up the ever so-absent online Ath, you know i wanted to submit a story, i wanted to do a comparison piece between Acadia and Mount Allison and the Campus D****bag told me i could not, that it would be ripping into other schools, i wanted to rip into the difference in teaching man, not in the difference of schools, like always, a popularity contest or stupidity contest with everything. Somebody even said that on the website last night about ASU elections being like high elections, a popularity contest, i mean when i travelled to other universities, i used to get very defensive because you know what i heard? That we were a bunch of SNOBS! That is right, that Acadia was nothing but a bunch of White collar, Daddy's car driving, rich a-holes who made people felt alienated when they came to visit, i took offence to this, i was a campus tour guide during the 2001-02 school year here and those visitors only looked too happy to be here, mind you on my tours i also showed potential students where the Axe was, where this was and fed them with facts about when the then mini-mart closed, stuff the other guides didn't do, why? Because i wanted them to have a fuller picture of Acadia, that we were not a bunch of Richie Riches, i am not a Richie Rich (Or a Richie Ramone either!) I had to work to get here, pump gas, clean floors, work as a clerk, a manager of a videostore. Alot of students arrived here over the years, i know this because i stayed in Tower for 5 yrs and saw students who never ever picked up a gas pump in their lives, didn't know how to work the washer and dryers in Tower....etc etc...Acadia needs to be a place of opportunity, not a closed kliq of people. Someday i'll do an entire entry on here of do's and don'ts of university, maybe they can give me the special job of writing the student handbook, instead of publishing ones with pictures on them from five yrs ago......hey Bullen!!! this damn thing still exists!!!!. Anyways, i have one more question to do for my take-home examination for Social Theory and then i can finally go to bed....talk to you later webheads! We Want The Airwaves!

Monday Night Robb

Well, back again! My day has gone fine, i completed two of my assigned four questions for my take-home Social Theory Examination. Well, i need to add quotes to the two questions, but they are done. Tomorrow is my Research & Methodology Mid-term at 7:00 (at night, not morning silly bean) I am nervous, but ok. I found out today that my buddy Aaron left MTA for STFX and is working there now, i had two former Tower alumnus on MSN today, him and my old pal Jamie. I think it is time for a ROAD TRIP to WolfVegas boys! Or a trip to STFX...or something...I traded in my bareboned Friday The 13th DVD's today because of my new Friday The 13th Boxset. Picked up my buddy Richie (another Tower alumnus...you already knew that) from his work experience place, we have plans for Halloween...shhhhhhhh! Wanted to get the car washed in Coldbrook, some bird pooped on me passenger window...but the car wash was broken down...how ironic, i break down and so does the car wash...some girl started babbling on and on and on about Sunday shopping, no sympathy from Ol' Robbo as i have been working Sundays for oh...some 8 or so yrs....Hot damn i couldn't believe i paid $11.50 to eat at mealhall on Saturday!!!! What the hell is up with that price Marriots?!?!?!?! Way to treat the old Alumni...$11.50 for ol' TatorTot Casserole!!!!The search continues for Georgeous Glen, he will have to meet Robbo for the title soon....actually i asked one half of the PEI Connection on Saturday, before the night became a complete haze about another former Tower alumnus by the name of Nathan, who always wore a toque, drank alot of Molson and had the same damn WAyne Gretzky Titan Hockey Stick in his volvo all yr long! I remember this damn stick clocked me in the head about 1000 times that yr....Oh well, this week is going to get worse, midterm tomorrow night and take-home at the end of the week, go home, work....come back Sunday and then next week, more of the same old, same old. Anyways that is enough ranting by me, tell tomorrow Rock On!!!

Maniac Monday....

Well Robfans, or whoever the hell is reading, it is another distant Monday morning here at Perkin's coffee shop here on the AcadiaU campus. Well, the hockey Axemen lost yestersay 5-2 to STFX. I was there, but had to go because of the enormous amount of homework that i missed out on due to Homecoming. Oh well, Halloween is on the way and i am off that night, which also happens to be on a Saturday this year, who will show up this year? Man this take-home examination is killing me! What my prof calls, "The Boring Old Guys"....Comte, Durkheim, Marx etc etc.... Man, truer word were never spoken, but at least it will be in the proper sociological format... Plus we have to make our own arguments..ugh...plus my Research & Methodology mid-term is tomorrow night and i spent last night in the SUB until about 11:00 trying to get that right, most of the stuff- Post-Modernism, Feminism and other forms of research are starting to stay in the head, stuff like Positivism, Interpretive Social Science and Critical Social Science is hard stuff...mostly written by more Boring Old Guys...oh well, till next time, this is Old Man Robb going to go do some studying... :(

My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down

Well, true believers it has been a few days... Homecoming was ummmm ok, saw a few friends that i haven't seen for awhile, the PEI Connection and a few others, although every homecoming there seems to be less and less people. The Football Axemen won yesterday over STFX and the Hockey Axemen are of this moment leading STFX 2-1 going into the third period. I wanted to go to the beer tent at the football game yesterday, but i was denied because i did not have my Acadia Alumni Card, actually alot of people who were grads as far back at the 60s and 70s didn't have their Alumni Cards either and were denied access to the beer tent, nice set-up guys! The guy who won Cdn Idol sang yesterday at the football game, i haven't heard a worse O' Canada since Tom Cochrane butched it years ago at a Toronto Bluejays game.....i really hate that Life is a Biway song too.....or whatever the hell it is called. Stayed the night in Tower, curtesy of my old drinking buddy Greg who is the RA on 9th floor, i caught up with him around 1:00 in the morning outside the Axe, he gave the hot dog lady a $20.00 bill and asked her how many hot dogs it would net him. I went out to the Axe and then the Vil, the Axe was not bad, there was a bouncer who thought he was all that and a bag of potato chips, at least i think he is a bouncer. I was pretty intoxicated, i just can't stand tough-guy wanna-be's, there was alot of them last night who needed Mike Tyson circa 1985-86 to come over and clock em in the damn head. Love them new $16.00 pictcher's of beer. Still a few people i haven't seen this year, i think some are in hiding or then again, who want's to hang around with an old man? Yesterday did have a cool moment where i saw a floormate of mine from Mount A at the football game, he was in town playing in a basketball tournament and was on his way to playing down at the War Memorial, like i said before i enjoyed the people up at the Mount and at Harper, it was a combination of the little things that bothered me, things like bad teaching and in general, disorganization, or what i saw as disorganization, a Meal Hall that did not open on the weekends until almost 12:00, a campus coffee shop that closed at 4:00, just little things that seemed to peeve me off....then again we are not perfect here at Acadia either, how many people i can see (I am at the SUB by the way) walking by Perkins and wanting to go in and have a cup of coffee, you can go to Momo's and have a cup of java, but it is not the same things...the greatest mystery of all that NOBODY has ever informed me about is the AXE itself on Sundays, why is it never open? I used to only see it open on Sunday's for Superbowl, but that was about it...i see alot of people going by the doors there on Sundays, warm day, wanting a beer, plus the Sunday Night Football crowd, the WWE PPV crowd, the Sunday specials, i could imagine it now, an Axeman Sunday Morning Breakfest Brunch AKA Denny's....oh well, i do not know the answer, so everybody can still ask me and ask me and ask me, but in the meantime, i know where to go to watch my BIG SCREEN Sunday Football...(VIL) Well Friday morning i dropped a class, i really only need some 12 more credit hrs in Sociology to achieve my double major and i really did not need this class...plus the midterm was Monday night and i was going to so FLUNK the midterm, the review for the midterm was not well done and plus the prof is off doing her field work all week, so if i had a question, she was not going to be present in order to answer it, let alone have any office hours. I still have a bottle of Appleton's Jamaican Rum back home in my room, it may go down really well with these two midterms coming up, projects that i have yet to start and all kinds of S*** that i have to do. Anyways it is running later and later into the afternoon and i need to get a cracking at the homework, later to all and no, i am not an Animal Boy...
