The Difference

Hey bloggeronies!!! What is a happening? What is happening in the world of Old Man Robb?

A drum roll please......................

GUNS N' F'N ROSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!??!

Guns N' Roses are coming to the Halifax Metro Centre on Monday, November 20th at 8 PM and tickets are going on sale this coming Saturday at 9 am!!!! Am i going? Hell yeah! Christmas comes early for Old Man Robb this year...will Axl be on his best behavior? No? Neither will Old Man Robb!!! Awesome..just awesome!
Well what else is a happening? My Mother purchased a new book for me titled simply, "Japan" and it is the be all, end all guide to living in Japan, for example advice on how to eat in a Japanese restaurant...

"When you eat at a resturant in Japan, you will be greeted with a hearty 'irasshaimase!' (Welcome!). In all but the most casual places the waiter will next ask you
'Nan-mei sama?' (How many people?). Answer with your fingers, which is what the Japanese do. You will then be lead to your table, a place at the counter or a tatami room.
At this point you will be given an oshibori (a hot towel), a cup of tea and a menu. The oshibori is for wiping your hands and face. When you are done with it, just roll it up and leave it next to your place. Now comes the hard part: ordering. If you don't read Japanese you can use the romanised translations in the book to help you, or direct the waiter's attention to the Japanese script. If this does not work there are two phrases that can help you:
'O-susume wa nan desu ka?' (What do you recommend?) and 'O-makase shimasu' (Please decide for me). If you are still having problems, you can try pointing at other diners food or, if the restuarant has them, dragging the waiter outside to point at the food models in the window.
When you are finished eating, you can signal for the bill by crossing one index finger opver the other to form the sigjn of an X. This is the standard sign for 'cheque please'. You can also say
'O-kanjo kudasai'. Remember there is no tipping in Japan and tea is always free of charge. Usually you will be given a bill to take to the cashier at the front of the restaurant. At more upmarket places, the host of the party will discreetly excuse him or herself to pay before the group leaves. Unlike some places in the West, one does not leave cash on the table as way of payment. Only the bigger and more international places take credit cards, so cash is always the surer option.
When leaving, it is polite to say to the restuarant staff, 'Gochiso-sama deshita' which means 'It was a real feast'

Wow!!! Heavy stuff indeedy!

Well i am still hanging out with my coolest new friend. I think she is getting used to me. I imagine i probably get on her nerves alot of the time, you know me...mr permently happy. Well maybe i am not happy all of the time..well i am most of it. Lots of girls i used to see didn't seem to like having a happy go-lucky guy around, they were probably all closet-emo cases. Actually the worst kind of ladies i ever dated were single child's. Why? Well most of them were spoiled rotten by their parents and wanted the world on a silver platter. Most of them also wanted my wallet to be like their parents and be a bottomless pit. I like my newest friend alot...tough when i am going so far far away and finding someone that makes me smile so much eh? Tomorrow i have an appointment at Scotiabank at 2:00 to see about me possibly getting a VISA card...good stuff! Well every team in the AUAA lost this weekend to football squads from Quebec. I have not been hearing the end of it all week especially since Acadia dropped out of the top ten standings. All four Atlantic teams will get a shot for revenge at their Quebec counterparts on October 21st. I am going on Friday to pick up tickets for Acadia VS SMU on October 7th. I will take my nephew with me again, i will have to get higer seats so that his little midget self can see the game. I was on campus at Acadia yesterday getting some pointers about Japanses culture and also making the rounds and visiting with old friends and some of my old professors, many of whom were supportive on my going to Japan and i was encouraged to see as many sites as humanly possible while i am there, i am currently planning to stay more than one year there, but i am taking the attitude of staying one so that i will inspire myself to see everything, to always be active and not be a hermit. An old friend of mine from Mount A is going here now and remembered me from living in Harper..actually she screamed when she saw me. Went to see another old friend of mine yesterday. I am no shrink, but i really hate to see people sad and i always feel powerless to help some of them. Captain Redneck had one of his fits yesterday, calling me a whore endless times in front of someone i care about. There is funny, and then there is overdoing it to the point of being annoying and in need of being told to F off. So i have another Friday off....hint hint hint...
What to do? Well i am working at the store formerly known as Andrew's at 6, so i am going to walk the doggies and wait it out...have a good one!

Never Ender

Hey there bloggeronies! What is a happening? Well not too too much this week i am afriad, well i am going to go pick up a Visa this week for taking to Japan with me, although the invite to Fort Kent and a sidetrip up to Mount A to visit and party with Harper Alumni at the Pub also sounds too inviting to resist. I did book Satruday October 7th off so i can go watch the Axemen take on SMU who are a suprising 0-2 while the Axemen are an awesome 2-0. This Saturday Shearbrooke is coming to take on the Axemen in some inter-league play, but sadly i have to work at the store formerly known as Andrew's. I do have Friday off as well as the Friday after that one. Any ladies need a date? I am still hanging around with my new super duper coolest friend in the world...I wanna see Jackass 2 perhaps on Friday night, but my super duper coolest new friend in the world doesn't wanna go with me...sigh..we did hang out and go to the mall last night as well as watch Hostel and A Nightmare on Elm Street....and to answer the popular question for this coming Saturday since i do have to work at the store formerly known as Andrew's, no i will not be putting in an appearance in Halifax to see the Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper and Sloan...as fun as it sounds, the answer as of this moment is still no..bad enough i had to miss the
Dropkick Murphys due to having to work..grrrrrrrrr...me and my old buddy Blair got together earlier this week to watch Rocky III and blab about how hysterical Rocky Balboa is going to be in December. ..we polished off the rest of my Smirnoff and made up a ludicrus story about how Rocky and Micky and Apollo Creed are involved in a gay love triangle..had to be drunk to believe it...I had a friend of mine, well he is really naive actually when it comes to lots of slang, an old friend of mine visited me on the weekend at work and stated loudly that me and him have to go to the bars sometime and get chased by some cougars...well my naive friend was puzzled as to why bars let cougars in the doors, isn't it dangerous for the patrons? Finally i realized that he meant actual cougars!!!!!!!!!! ok here is a definition of cougars that i found...

MILFs are out, Cougars are in. For those of you who don’t know what a Cougar is, I’ve taken the time to copy this excerpt from a very not-fake encyclopedia. Yeah, you’re welcome.
Definition: A Cougar is a female, usually between thirty and fifty years-old, who enjoys the sexual company of younger men.
Breeding Habits: Cougars are only usually interested in men under the age of twenty-five. Also, Cougars are non-committal, choosing to move from mate to mate without ever settling down. It is not uncommon for the same Cougar to attack (sleep with) many different men in the same group of friends. Furthermore, Cougars are older and more practiced in the ways of snaring a mate so they will rarely broadcast their intentions to sleep with you until you are already in her Jetta, headed for the condo she just bought.
It is this elusive behavior that earns her the name “Cougar.”
Habitat: Cougars are most often found in bars and other places where alcohol is freely distributed. She can be seen lurking in the shadows, selecting their prey with the precision of a laser-guided missile. Most often, she will have some sort of fruity concoction with a high alcohol content in her hand (see: Appletini), and a slim cigarette dangling from her heavily made-up lips.
Appearance: The Cougar, at first, appears like most older women one sees: slightly drooping breasts, somewhat leathery skin, lightly sunken eyes and clothes just a few years behind the fashion. On closer inspection however, one finds that the Cougar has taken care to make herself appear younger: the makeup is thicker, the clothing is tighter and the perfume is stronger. She clearly has spent hours stuffing her not-18-anymore body into that leather skirt and halter top and desperation reflects that.
Psyche: The Cougar is a complex emotional creature. Remember, most of her friends are probably married and have kids by now. This, naturally, leaves her feeling lonely and useless, which explains her need for companionship. However, being an older woman, she is at the peak of her sexual ability which is why she preys on younger men (who are also at the peak of their sexual ability). This odd pairing – Cougar and twenty-three year old guy – can be seen at last call in bars all over the country every weekend.
HAHAHAHA!!! Good definition eh?
Actually my same naive friend did not know what a friend with benifits was...here we go again...

Friends With Benifits: Two friends who have a sexual realtionship without being emotionally involved. Typically two good friends who have casual sex without a monogomous relationship or any kind of commitment. Two fairly close, or very close friends have the hots for one another. they do have some sort caring for one another, but it is not one of a romantic couple.
a man and a woman who don't enjoy commitment like to fool around with one another because they find each other attractive.
Whew!
Oh..anyone see the crazy professor video making its way around the net? Hysterical stuff..it goes to show how little respect some students have for their profs/ teachers in this day and age, i used to find it so rude when someone's cell phone would go off in class and they would sit there and talk on it like a disrecpectful little prick. I found it funny whether staged or not to see a prof take it upon himself to right a definite wrong.
Have a good one folks!

Delusional Me

Hey!
Hello bloggeronies! What is a happening? Ummm...not too too much i imagine. Well i went to see a very funny (in moi opinion) movie at the Zedex, as in Beerfest! Which i asked my coolest new friend some 999 times to go see. Well it was hysterical in that i don't know how it was not rated R, lots of kids there and now lots of them know the drinking games that i have picked up on over the last 5-7 yrs, except in their case they will all now be prepped for college/ university because now they all know them early. Awesome games like beer pong and others, hey that site has a design your own table feature which seems pretty cool. Do you know what beer pong is? Well i will try my best to explain...

1) You need 2 or 4 people (head to head or 2 on 2)
2) What do you need to play? 14 12 ounce plastic cups (6 per team and 2 water cups)
2 ping-pong balls in case one gets lost, 2-4 beers per game and a flat-level playing surface.
3) The object of the game? To sink all of the other teams cups.
4) How to start? Winning team shoots first. If the night is just beginning or the winning team has resigned then a player from each team will shoot on the count of three while looking each other in the eye. If the player from Blue makes his cup and the player from Red doesn't, the next player on Blue will shoot. If they both make or miss, the next shooters on each team will shoot in the same fashion. This continues until the outcomes are different.
5) Each team shoots twice per turn. If both players make their shots, the balls are returned and receive an extra turn
6) The ball can be thrown or bounced into the cup. Depending on the length of the table, your elbow may not be allowed to cross the end of the table while shooting. (Good rule for shorter tables). If leaning is permitted, you can lean over the table but may not touch. If the ball somehow lands in the middle of 3 or 4 cups all cups are considered sunk. (very rare, easier when bouncing)
7) A cup is sunk as soon as the ball touches the contents of the cup. If a ball is spinning in the cup you may attempt to blow it out before it touches the cups contents. (Warning: If the ball touches the contents and then you blow it out and it lands in another cup, both cups are considered sunk). If a team shoots and hit the other team's cup the team who had the cup that was sunk drinks the contents. Team members alternate drinking cups. If a person shooting knocks over the other teams cup unintentionally the cup is considered sunk. If you knock over one of your own cups, it is considered sunk.
8) Game ending situations: Note: redemption round means last turn by the team on the verge of losing. Just as in a regular turn, if two shots are made in a row you get another bonus round keeping the game alive. A) The opposite team has 1 or 2 cups left. If your team hits two in a row there is no redemptionB)If the other team has one cup left and you only hit one out of 2 shots the other team has 2 shots (one for each player) to sink your remaining cups. If they sink the rest of your cups they force overtime.
9) Overtime: If a team hits the remaining cups during redemption overtime is forced. Overtime consists of each team setting up 3 cups in a triangle format using a beverage to fill them up. The team who hit the last cup first shoots first in overtime. Overtime is played like a normal game with the same rules applied (i.e. overtime can be forced again following the same process).
10) Misc Rules: Cups are rearranged after 2 cups are hit to a diamond formation (1 cup, 2 cups, then one cup). All taunting must be done behind the table (if you interfere and hit the other teams shot you have to take a cup away).

Got all that? hahahahaha

What else is new? The Axemen defeated SMU 30-28 at Huskie Stadium on Friday night, i wish i had been there , had an offer to go to the game, but i had to work at nthe store formerly known as Andrew's on Friday. The scouts were there from the Montreal Alouettes were there keeping their eye on one of their coveted draft picks. Actually yesterday Mount Allison kept STFX at bay, but ultimately lost 38-21. I think i may take the 7th of October off and watch the Axemen take on SMU in a rematch. So me and my coolest newest friend watched a couple of movies the other day, Sorority Boys (A coveted fav of mine!) and the original Dawn of the Dead! We actually went out to Wal-Mart last night and i bought a 30 pack of CD's that i can use to make more Black Sabbath mixes!!! and we ate at one of the Chinese restuarants in New Minas. We were told at the door that it was still buffet time, but when we sat down this older waitress told us that the buffet was over at 8 and we could take 2-3 plates to our table if we so desired..some people eh? I actually bought a pair of Nike's the other day for $59 dollars which led Captain Redneck to go on one of his rants about spending cash on this and that..attention K-Mart shoppers..Captain Redneck is in the house!!! Oh yeah i just remembered the Walk of Shame chant from Sorority Boys..it goes something like this....

"The girl was fair
Who went upstairs
With her favourite KOK
She knocked around
And came back down,
And now she takes the walk
The Walk of Shame - She's not to blame.
Who could resist the KOK?
The Walk of Shame,
She found her fame,
And now she takes the walk!"

Evil? Yeah...funny? ummmmmmmmm yeah!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Another definition of Walk of Shame is as follows...
The Walk of Shame is the tired, drunken stagger of someone who can't possibly drink any more and is in danger of doing something foolish so has left, been escorted from or been kicked out of the bar. It encompasses everything that happens on the way home - the banging into lamp posts, the talking to mailboxes, the singing to yourself on the bus that you think no one else can hear, the losing of your keys that were in your pocket the whole time and the unenviable task of dealing with your far soberer roommates, waiting with eyebrows cocked, when you finally make it home. In certain circles, The Walk is both a coming-of-age ritual and proof positive that you ain't a professional drinker. Contradictory, but most community-type hazing/acceptance thingies are.
There are two ways to avoid the walk. Three, really, but the third is more of a coping strategy than a preemptive strike.
You can not drink that much, which is smart, true, but less fun.
You can pass out on a park bench and tell your roommates that you got laid. This never works, but is funny, and you think it'll work at the time. Or,
You can do it so often that it a. becomes less of a novelty and b. raises your alcohol tolerance so it happens less. This is very expensive.
If confronted with the walk, don't be too hard on yourself. It happens to the best of us, but please, please don't make the situation any worse by doing anything else other than going home, throwing up if necessary, drinking a few pints of water, taking some Tylenol and Vitamin C and passing out. It's far less interesting to hear about than you think.

Wanna know what is sad though? Acadia trying to cover up why first year enrolment is down this year, of course they are not releasing specific numbers as to why it is down or how much exactly it is down, SMU is down some 6-7 %. Acadia had to close Tower and is laying off lots of staff. Why? a Record high rate of tuition. No wonder students are leaving in droves to go elsewhere or go to NSCC to get their education. And i wonder...who is getting what with the cash? The mind boggles and the stomach turns my friends.
What happened in Montreal was senseless and to have it happen some 17 years after the shootings at the École Polytechnique de Montréal ...what is the world coming to? And everyone is asking the same questions to me how come again in Montreal?
Well folks what is happening this week? Well i am getting Hepatitis shots on Tuesday and i have Friday off..any suggestions..ladies? No? oh well what is new eh?
Have a good one folks!

Longest Time Gone

sHey!

What is happening bloggeronies? Well i have disappeared off the face of the earth eh? Nope i have been a busy little man and doing well...all kinds of stuff! Well last time i was babbling i was heading to our staff party...it was fun, took my Jack and Coke and well drank alot, didn't get sick and everyone got to see my KISS boxer shorts! Long story.. The next night i went to see Bad Cop: Bon Cop and it was an hysterical story about Quebec-Canada relations, ever time i see Colin Feore i think of that Trudeau mini series and i loved the digs at hockey culture in Canada, esp Rick Mercier playing a Don Cherry knock-off and Gary Buttman, an obvious parody of you know who. I went to Acadia Admissions the other day and i paid my $5 plus that i owed them from back in 2003 and i also took the liberty of buying myself an Acadia Alumni t-shirt at long last. I heard back from Nova Japan and now that they have my Employment Documents in hand at their Toronto Offices, Nova is now preparing the Visa application for submission to their foreign personnel office in Japan and from there are sending everything to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration in order to apply for my certificate of eligibility...whew! Went with my brother and his son to Frenchy's the other night....really hysterical to watch those two bicker over used clothing for over an hour, plus there was a William Shatner VHS on home safety that i so should have bought myself. Well just this past Saturday i took in seeing the football Axemen take on the Mount Allison Mounties. We won 34-9, but the game was alot closer than it was let on. Hopefully this is the year that the Mounties break that five year losing streak, it was kind of surreal seeing them score a touchdown. After the game i showed my nephew the Library and ran into a couple of friends of mine from Mount A and they want me to come up there to party before i head for Japan, we also took a side trip to Billy Bob's and had some of their awesome monster-sized pizza slices, ok so it is not the famous Pizza Corner, but it is good enough. We also made a trip to the Market in Wolfville, where i always used to go to get awesome poster decorations for my room before the start of every school year. I have a new friend here and we have been hanging out, not doing too much but watching some movies the other night, as a matter of fact we watched My Bloody Valentine, Rumble in the Bronx and Shogun Assassin for a triple feature the other night. I know those are some good ol fashioned Robbo classics eh? My old pal Bullen sent me an article from the Ath called "Farewell Crowell Tower" it was a good read, a bit of a tug at the heartstrings..but a good read nontheless..will it stay closed? Who knows? It is a bit old and run down and i guess they are right in calling it the Ghetto of Acadia, but maybe if the old tuition comes down just a tad, then just maybe people will filter back and stuff.. or they will just tear the old thing down and make it a parking lot..so who knows? I finally got my Star Wars special edition DVD that has the original on it. So weird to not see a New Hope before the opening scroll, but so worth it to see Han shoot Greedo first! Anyways folks i am off, i am going to go see Beerfest tonight at the base, my new friend does not want anything to do with Beerfest even though i told her that it is probably Oscar material (More like Razzie material!) Anyways folks...have a good one!
